Illuminated fancy table and uncut board bench

This project is quite large-scale and complex. However, the main difficulty here is the processing of large volumes of material. In general, if you have all the necessary tools, making such a table will not be difficult.

In the center of the table, the author decided to make a simulation of small lakes, and he decided to make a highlight. As a material, a nut was used, more precisely, an uncut board from this tree. But other tree will do, the main thing is that it is solid boss

Materials and tools for homemade:
- (manual and stationary);
- square steel pipes (for the manufacture of legs);
- (various grinders, sandpaper, etc.);
- measuring instrument (tape measure, markers, rulers, etc.);
- epoxy adhesive;
- a manual tool for cutting wood (chisels, hammers, and so on);
- clamps;
- drill with drills;
- wooden dowels;
- router;
- polycarbonate, glass, pebbles LEDs (for the manufacture of "lakes");
- polishing machine;
- and other.

Homemade manufacturing process:

Step one. Material Search
Perhaps this step will be for many the most difficult. You need to find the right width boards. There will be no problems if there is an industrial circular saw nearby. Then it will be possible to cut boards from any tree to order.

Step Two Counting
Next, determine the size of the table, with the length and width. The countertop is made of two boards, in the center are the uneven edges that form the “windows”. The author decided to turn these “windows” into “lakes”.

Step Three Board preparation
Sand the surface of the boards to a smooth state. As for the bark, then remove the excess, which itself is already falling off.

Next, the author applies epoxy to the surface of the boards. This creates an excellent coating that does not allow water and dirt to pass, and also perfectly fills all the recesses. Dry the boards well before applying the resin!
When the coating has dried, the author again polished it with sandpaper with a grain size of 60.

Step Four Customize boards
Using chisels and a circular saw, we adjust the boards to each other. Cut off the excess edges with which they abut. If you wish, you can form "lakes" of any size and desired shape.

Step Five We connect the plates
Using wooden dowels and other clamps, we connect two boards. We apply glue for wood or epoxy on the dowels.

Step SixWe make "lakes"
For the manufacture of "lakes" you will need to make a light-scattering "bottom", as well as a transparent top. For the lower part, the author used polycarbonate, and for the upper, ordinary glass, well, or other suitable material may be suitable. We fasten the polycarbonate to the bottom and put pebbles and other decor on it. On the back of the polycarbonate we install LEDs for backlighting.

Seventh step, table polishing
The idea of the author was to make the coating as natural as possible, so it was decided to abandon any non-natural coatings. For polishing, OSMO PolyX was used, which basically contains oils. Before polishing, the author polished the entire surface with 220 grit sandpaper. After polishing, the coating should be allowed to dry for a day or two, and then apply another layer.

Step Eight. Table legs
The author decided to make the legs out of square steel pipes. The form was bizarre, but it’s not necessary to be so sophisticated. Well, we cut the necessary pieces, grind, paint.

Step Nine. The table is ready
The table is ready! Everything turned out pretty cool, despite the fact that you can use fairly simple tools for manufacturing. Of course, the main question you will have is a search for materials.

Not everyone knows that when kneading it in large volumes, the epoxy starts to heat up and hardens quickly. When I myself covered the table with an epoxy, the plastic bucket even burned me.
