We create a device for measuring the intensity of lighting, without using Arduino or other microcontrollers without programming. With a minimum set of parts. The light intensity meter displays different light levels using different color LEDs. A red LED indicates normal illumination, red with yellow LEDs indicate high light intensity, and green indicates a very high light intensity.
The lighting intensity device can be installed anywhere due to its small size, or used for mobile measurement of illumination in rooms, industrial premises.
Material needed
Electronic Components
- Photodiode
- 3 LEDs (red, yellow and green)
- 100 ohm resistor
- 47 ohm resistors
- power supply 9 volts
- layout for testing
- set of wires
- jumpers
Instruments
- knife
- soldering iron
- solder
Samples and tests.
To get the perfect result, resistors with different values under different lighting conditions have been tested. The values of the resistors were chosen taking into account the difference in the resistance of each LED of a different color. It was noted that the red LED had the lowest resistance, while the yellow LED was the highest.
Prototyping on a breadboard and testing.
