After reading the article to the end, you will learn how to make an interesting homemade product. It will be devicewhich will help you with sheet metal work. We will make a press brake. This is such a machine, which is a machine that develops the force used for production purposes, mainly for bending sheet metal products. More precisely, we will make a prefix to the press, which will serve as a bending machine.
To create today's homemade product, we need a whole bunch of different scrap metal.
But let's start, perhaps, with this 12-mm metal plate, which must first be cleaned of rust.
This can be done using a brush that is installed on the grinder. As you can see, the piece of iron has acquired a completely different look.
Now apply the marking for drilling holes.
We drill the part and proceed to drilling holes.
Since the metal is quite thick (I recall that the thickness of the metal plate is 12 mm), for a start you need to use a drill with a smaller diameter. First, take a 6 mm drill.
Well, now, you can take the top ten drill.
And note that the drilling machine used by the author is equipped with a motor from a screwdriver and pretty well copes with this task, the main thing is not to overload the motor.
The task is excellent.
Next, we will cut the thread in this hole. To do this, we lubricate the cutting edge of the sword, insert it into the hole just drilled and begin to slowly rotate it, thereby cutting the thread. The author cuts the thread m12.
Now disassemble the rack to remove the stem. Be extremely careful when disassembling the rack, as there is a lot of oil inside, and it can be under pressure.
The stem is removed. Next, you need to mark the stock exactly in half and begin to cut it. This should be done slowly, simply gradually rotating the stock.
And now we need a lathe.
We cut the thread m12. For this purpose, the author uses a makeshift device that he made from old auto spare parts and chains from the bike.
Now let's get into the manufacture of bushings.
Since the diameter of the bushings was initially slightly smaller, I had to squander them.
Of course, in this case, it would be possible to do without the use of a lathe, just picking up the pipe of the desired diameter.
Now from a corner with a side of 100 mm, cut off the workpiece with a length of 445 mm and a width of 80 mm. The author does this with a grinder.
Then, it is necessary to sharpen one of the edges at an angle of 90 degrees for the obtained workpiece. The entrance goes again grinder. We must try to do this as carefully as possible.
The process is quite long and monotonous, but let's not rush anywhere and try to do it beautifully and as accurately as possible.
That's it. All components for assembling the tool are ready.
Let us begin directly to the process of assembling the set-top box to the press, which, as you recall, will play the role of a bending machine. Let’s finally collect it with you and, of course, test it.
In order to strengthen the entire structure, the author previously welded the corners together.
Now the corners can be finally welded to the base. The author made several tacks. Now he removes the part and final welds.
And now let's paint it, add some cosmetics, so to speak. We will paint with enamel on rust with a hammer effect. The author chose black.
In the end, we get just such a beauty.
All sizes of this homemade product are not relevant, since it was made specifically for this press (press in the author’s workshop). But let's still remember what it was all made of.

The tests will begin, perhaps, with a small strip of steel 2 mm thick.
