Hello to all lovers homemade. Nowadays, the variety of watches is so great that sometimes you don’t know what to choose, but at the same time you want something of your own, original, and most importantly done do it yourself. In this article I will tell you how to make homemade watches from a clutch basket that will show off in your the garage or at home, such self-made watches will be a great gift car enthusiast.
Before you read the article, I suggest watching a video where the entire process of assembling this homemade product is shown.
In order to make a homemade watch from a clutch basket, you will need:
* Angle grinder, metal brush, cutting wheel
* Clutch basket automobile
* Drilling machine, electric drill
* Safety glasses, gloves
* Metal brush for drill
* Solvent 646
* Spray paint, black and blue
* Clockwork
* Car icon, in this case BMW
* Glue gun
* Old watch dial
That's all you need to build our homemade product.
Step one.
The basis of this homemade product will be the clutch basket.
First you need to prepare the surface of the clutch basket for further painting. We install a metal cleaning brush on the angle grinder and we clean the basket, removing traces of rust, plaque and other visible defects. When working with an angle grinder, be careful and observe safety measures, wear safety glasses and gloves.
Next, we clean out inaccessible places, for this an electric drill with a smaller metal brush is well suited.
After brushing, we get this result, the basket looks like new, which is what we need.
Step Two
Now this base needs to be painted, the central part or the so-called petals will be black, and the outer part blue.
Before painting parts of the base, degrease the surface; solvent 646 is good for this. Wet the cloth with solvent and wipe the clutch basket.
So that inadvertently the paint does not fall on the outside, we cut out a circle from the cardboard, which will be a kind of protection.
For a better result and getting a deeper color, paint in several layers, allowing each layer to dry a little. Let the paint dry and move on to the next step.
Step Three
It's time to set the clockwork.
But for this you need to remove some of the petals, since the clock mechanism itself will be installed on the badge from BMW, which does not get there without fitting.
Using an angle grinder with a cutting wheel installed, cut off the edges of the petals, periodically looking to fit the BMW badge, in which case it will act both as a decor and as a mount e parts with arrows.
To set the clock mechanism in the icon, we drill holes on the drilling machine in the center of the icon, the diameter of the drills is gradually increased, otherwise a crack may form.
We glue the mechanism to the badge with a glue gun, its strength will be enough for these purposes.
Next, glue the badge itself to the clutch basket, make sure not to go beyond its edges, otherwise the glue will be visible.
Step Four
There is very little left. We set the hands in place, first the hour, then minute and second hands, at this stage the main thing is not to rush.
Next, using the same glue gun, glue the numbers that were borrowed from the old watch dial.
As a result, we got such a car-style watch that will remind you of the car every time you watch the time.
That's all for me, thank you all for your attention and creative success.
