DIY puzzle

Everyone sometimes wants to stretch their brains, think about something, and what could be better than puzzles, you play and train your brains at the same time, because it relieves stress well after a hard day. Not puzzles where you collect a box with an unusual figure, but those that make you think. Objects that make you look at everything from a different perspective, which make you understand the world, are not always the way they seem. You can make it for children to train their thinking, flexibility of mind, etc. I first saw this puzzle on the instructables website, I would like to share its creation with you. This simple puzzle is made of metal, brass and wood. The ends are not removable, the ring is not removable and there is no optical illusion. With a few tools, using wood and a pair of metal bars, you can make this simple puzzle game to surprise your friends and family.

Tools / Materials

1. Hand drill
2. 3.5 cm drill
3. The compass
4. Grinding disc
5. Hacksaw
6. Two pieces from the board
7.3.5 cm metal rod (4 pieces)
8. 6 mm neodymium magnets
9.3.5 cm brass ring
10. Epoxy
11. Varnish for of furniture

Step 1: Form the Wooden Part

The author cuts a circle from pieces of wood 1.2 cm thick. He used a band saw, you can use a simple saw. Noting the center, he drew a circle with a diameter of 9 cm using a compass. Using a band saw, I cut out a circle that is larger than the mark made by a compass (0.3 cm approximately). Then he rounded the edges, removing excess material with a disk or belt sander.

Step 2: Drill Three Holes

Using a compass, he drew a new circle with a radius of 7.5-8 cm and divided the circle into 3 parts and drilled them. Drill holes as deep as possible, but not through and through.

Step 3: Cut the rods

Using a hacksaw or angle grinder, he cuts the rod so that three parts are 5 cm long (3 rods) and one 4.5 cm long (this is the central rod, it should be shorter than the others). Using a grinding machine or disk grinding tool, the author removes squiggles caused by cutting the rod.

Step 4: Drill a Center Hole

The central core is the core of this puzzle. The author drilled one hole deep enough to align the magnet. This will be what holds the central rod, making it more stable. Then he drills another central hole as deep as possible, but not through and through. Then a 3.5 cm straight bit, it will align the bottom of this hole. This will allow the central shaft to slide as far as possible and provide clearance for the brass ring.

Step 5: Round the edges

Using a router, the author adds small roundness to the edges of each circle. You can do anything to give them a more beautiful look. You can draw, cut, paste, and so on.

Step 6: Grind and Paint

The author polished the wheels well, smoothed out all the bumps. Then he put the discs on the nails (did not drive them in) and applied furniture varnish

Step 7: Final Assembly

Using a rapidly drying epoxy, the author inserted a magnet into the corresponding hole. He let it dry for several hours (glue can be used) so that the movable central rod would not pull it into place when assembly was completed. Then he glued all the other rods, and left them to dry for a couple of hours.

Step 8: How does it work?

You may already have figured out how this works. But just to explain, everything is extremely simple, the ring on the middle rod and the rod moves, lower the rod and get the ring. This is an interesting puzzle that will take your loved ones or any other person for a long time. That's all, thanks for watching, we like (please) I hope you enjoyed it.

This is not a puzzle, but a hoax. The puzzle is solved, but here as in that joke - there is nothing to think here, you have to shake! - In this case, pull the pin.
circle with a diameter of 9 cm
I looked at the source - it turns out "9 cm" is also a lie.
Specially for the flipper: inch is an inch. If you do not find what an inch is and what it is equal to - write, we will help. )))
With dimensions a complete mess.
7.3.5 cm metal rod (4 pieces)
If 3.5 cm in diameter, it does not fit with the size of the main circles (9 cm). If this is the length, then it does not fit with the following description, and the diameter is unknown at all. (((
8. 6 mm neodymium magnets
Diameter or length? And what is the second size? (((
9.3.5 cm brass ring
What does it mean? Where is the second size? The picture does not match. (((
