Today, together with the author of the quite popular YouTube channel China Master, we will try to remake the most ordinary drill into an automatic screwdriver. Of course, for this we need the help of one interesting enough special Chinese fixtures.
For quite a long time (more than six months), the author was lying idle here is such a kit for converting a conventional drill into an automatic screwdriver:
This set is very simple and consists of literally a couple of parts. The first part is to hold the tapes with screws, and the second is the feed mechanism itself. In combat readiness, this set is brought in literally three movements: unscrew the screw of the feed mechanism, insert to hold the tape and tighten the screw back. And this set lay for so long because the author did not have a suitable drill and long bit for him. Mounting on the tool is done using a landing hole with a diameter of 44 mm and the whole thing is tightened with a clamp. But in the kit was another sleeve that stood inside. To be honest, it is not entirely clear why it is needed there.
The mechanism has two adjustments: this is an adjustment for the size of the screws from 25 to 45 mm and the adjustment of the depth of the screws.
The drill, which the author managed to pick up in his small town, is made by the Stavropol Tool Plant. It does not have to be this way, the main thing is that it has the necessary dimensions: the landing diameter is 43 mm and the length from the edge of the cartridge is 66 mm.
Now let's figure out the bits. The bit length required for this mechanism should be 250 mm. But I got two different ones and stopped on a bit with a round body, but it did not go into the hole in the feed mechanism, since the diameter of the bit is 6 mm, and the outlet in the mechanism is 4 mm.
It doesn’t matter, we drill a hole with a diameter of up to 7 mm in the screw feed mechanism.
Now you can safely clamp the bit into the drill chuck and assemble. By the way, the author decided to remove the film from the bat so that it would not cling anywhere. Next, just install the mechanism on the drill.
And the last touch is the installation of the tape in our "machine gun".
This mechanism is designed so that each time you press the wall, the cell in which the screw is standing changes.
You can also simply and quickly remove the tape for later replacement.
We pass to tests. The author fastened on the door the garage a pair of trim profiles for drywall.
Let's try attaching drywall to profiles with today's new device.
In just a few seconds, the author was able to easily tighten more than a dozen screws. And how long would it take for you to use an ordinary screwdriver?
Well, as it turned out, the device copes with its task perfectly. Now the author will answer questions that you might have: How much did it cost?
For the drill itself, the author gave 2,100 rubles + a nozzle of 1,300 rubles and a bit for screws 100 rubles. Total exactly 3,500 rubles, while the cost of a famous instrument starts at 15,000 rubles and above.
You cannot insert new screws into the used tape, as the sockets break when screwed in. The screws themselves are also expensive. For example, for one such tape with screws in the amount of 50 pieces, the author gave 80 rubles.
But probably if you take in large packages, then their cost will be lower. In general, the author liked the tool and will certainly be useful to people who are engaged in building.
Well, that’s all. Thank you for attention. See you soon!
