DIY garden drill

Good day, dear the inhabitants of our site!
This article will be interesting to all summer residents, gardeners and owners of private houses. In it, the author of the channel will show how he did device for digging round pits. Often this tool is called a garden drill. Without such a device, to make a hole for a tree, or to dig a pole or racks for a bench, table - this is a big problem.

Instrumentsused by the author.
- Drilling machine
- Bulgarian, wheels
- Welding machine
- Sharpened
- Step drill
- Kern
- Keys, vernier caliper.

So, the author for the manufacture of homemade need the following materials.
- Steel sheet with a thickness of 3, and a size of 220 by 220 mm
- Steel bar with a diameter of 12 mm
- Sleeve from jet thrust Zhiguli
- coolant (cutting fluid)
- Steel pipe 3/4 ", 1300 mm long, 1/2" 500-600 mm
- Steel round diameter of 20 mm
- Steel strip 25 mm, length 50-60 mm
- Bolts with nuts and washers M6.

Manufacturing process.
This sheet will be the basis for knives, their diameter will be 220 mm, respectively, and the hole size of the holes.

First, the author needs to close the already marked center of the sheet.

Using a step drill, he drills a hole of 12 mm, this will be the center hole. Later, the author will increase it to the desired size.

By the way, did you know what a stepped drill is made of? These drills are made of high quality titanium coated high speed steel. Turns for drilling with these drills should not exceed 1000 revolutions per minute. According to Ivan, the most suitable option is from 600 to 1000 revolutions, using coolant so as not to burn the cutting edge of the drill.

The hole made a size of 12 millimeters.

Next will use a piece of the sleeve with a jet Lada thrust, as a guide, and a bar of 12 mm.

Now the task is to weld the jet thrust sleeve exactly in the center so that the bar is centered and exactly in the center.

Now he makes the installation of the plate, fixes it to the edge of the table with clamps.

He takes a grinder, it already has a special author's mount installed, which allows you to cut circles.

Puts the profile pipe as follows.

And with such circular motions he cuts out the required circle size, 220 mm.

Now the grinder cuts the sleeve, cleans the weld point.

The next task is to cut this circle in half. He made a marking, and now he will make a cut in two passes.

First, one side, then, after turning 180, the second.

These are two semicircles.

The basis of the homemade product will be 3/4 pipe, a length of 1300 mm.

On one side of the pipe, you need to make a selection for a half-inch pipe, that is, 15 mm. It will be used as a pen.

On the opposite side of the pipe, Ivan will use a 20 mm round as a guide.

Stoch one side of the round log under the cone, and insert the other side into the base and scald.

Here is the author’s cone.

Now he inserts this workpiece into the twentieth pipe. Somewhere 7-8 centimeters makes take-out and scalds.

It will be necessary to turn the weld on the grinder.

Also, Ivan needs to sharpen one of the sides of two crescents, this region, also with the help of a sharpener.

So it turned out to sharpen the knives, but did not sharpen it very sharply.

The next blank will be made from a strip of 25 mm. On the strip made markings, found the center of the strip.
And also retreated from both sides by 13 mm. The total length of the workpiece will be approximately 50 mm.

At the marking centers, it will make holes at 6 millimeters.

These two blanks are needed, they will serve as fasteners of the blades.

The author arranges this blank of 25 strip so that the edge of this hole is near the beginning of the cutting knife. Slightly deepening from the edge, drills a small, about 5-6 mm hole in the blade.

And now, having connected the workpiece with the working blade with bolts, he will make a selection for the twentieth pipe.
So it happened.

And now, these connectors are welded to the pipe. The angle of the knives should be approximately 35 degrees.

After welding, the author got such a working part.

He will also weld a handle, but the welding process is not shown.

Everything is almost ready, Ivan left to make a scale with the markup of tens of centimeters. Measurement should be made from the point of maximum lowering of the knives. Here from this edge of the plate.

So the layout looks like, the author made it up to 70 cm.

Everything is ready, now this device will be tested. The last nuance is to tighten the mounting bolts. Ivan will do this with such an interesting key. This key is open end on one side and ratchet on the other. There is a possibility of changing the position of the ratchet itself, which is very convenient when twisting or untwisting in hard-to-reach places. It is not advisable to tighten the ratchet strongly so that it does not break.

So, begins to drill a well, or hole. The drill easily enters the ground. Of course, if especially stony soils come across, it will be hard to work with this drill, because it is more suitable for clay, black soil.

Such a pit, 40 centimeters deep, its edges do not crumble due to the fact that the same blades.

Also, the drill has removable blades. This is very convenient - you can sharpen it on the grinder. It makes sense to make removable blades for smaller and larger diameters.

Thanks to the author for an interesting tool!

All good ideas and obedient tools!

And without a lever - no way ??? )))
P.S. If a person is disabled, or is so weak that he is not able to lift 5-10 kg by half a meter without a lever, then I think he will not work as a garden drill in any case.)))))
Another dummy. I was hoping that they might at least show some lever to remove the screw that was screwed in.
