Manufacturing process.
The very first thing that the author does, he cuts on the miter saw boards to the desired size.
Using a band saw cuts thin layers of wood.
Then sticks on the board sandpaper with a sticky base. Now the workpiece has a rough surface and it does not slip.
Then he puts dark and light sheets on top of the sandpaper, and passes them through the thicknesser.
Then it processes veneer strips on a grinding machine.
The next step, the author sprays aerosol contact adhesive on the patterns to fix them on the workpieces.
The veneer turned out to be very thin and a clerical knife easily cuts through it. Cuts parts into patterns.
Now is the time to glue all the resulting elements. Front parts are glued to the inside. The author uses super glue CA.
He wants to make a cover on a flexible loop. To this end, he uses coated adhesive tape, which should provide the very bending point of the lid.
Next, it is necessary to observe a slope of 45 degrees for optimal bonding density of the corners of the structure. David makes a simple device, allowing to provide just such an angle of inclination of the edges of the parts.
He glues a piece of emery to its upper part, about which the master will rub the ends of each part so that they acquire an angle of 45 degrees.
Well, all that remains is to put everything on glue. To do this, all the details of the body are laid out on adhesive tape. Coats the seams with glue, then folds the case.
Then glues the bottom and cover details.
Everything turned out, the glue froze, the box opens.
The next part of the work is the creation of mini-pencils themselves. Slices sticks for them.
When the cubes of the desired length and width are cut, the author makes special grooves on them, then lead slabs will lie in them. The author intentionally passes the sticks twice through the cutter, because he wants the resulting cavity to be centered. This is an important point, since the master is going to round the angular shape of the bars after, and the cavity should be exactly in the middle.
Next, the Dev smears the grooves with glue and puts lead in them, picking them along the length.
He leaves one end of the stylus outside.
Then he glues both halves of the future pencil. It connects them and clamps them with clamps.
After the glue has hardened, the author proceeds to the formation of pencils. First, he removes large sections of wood, giving the rod the shape of an octagon.
And then he additionally grinds the core with sandpaper, holding it before in the chuck of a screwdriver. Round pencil blanks are ready!
Manually cuts workpieces of the desired length.
Now coloring begins. One end of the pencils will be bright yellow. The author seals with tape the parts of the rod on which the paint should not get.
Now all this should dry. The author made his product from two types of wood: sandalwood and birch.
It soaks the surface of the box with oil.
Sharpen mini pencils.
The lid closes perfectly on its own.
And the color scheme for the impregnation of pencils can be chosen to your taste. You can even make a set of colorful pencils.
That's what happened! This is a small work of art. Perhaps it is not so functional, it is intended more likely to satisfy the aesthetic taste. Such a simulated pack of cigarettes with pencils inside can serve as a good reason to start a conversation, can perfectly defuse the atmosphere and become a wonderful individual gift.
In addition, these are excellent pencils for people who often have to write down something in the company. For example, when playing preference, dominoes or golf.
David emphasizes that this homemade product is not a propaganda of smoking and does not recommend smoking!
