Decommissioned landfill aquarium

Decommissioned landfill aquarium

All the fun begins with the words "I know a short road", or "come with me, there is so much to eat!"

Amid a mountain of equipment preparing for disposal, I noticed two battered pressure chambers with traces of vandalism.

An experienced eye noticed two charming transparent hemispheres. The brain immediately folded them into a single large transparent ball. A bright thought has conceived - AQUARIUM! The idea was immediately overshadowed by the picture of how the Uzbek terminators break hemispheres and saw metal with a grinder.
This is where the ruble started ... sorry, creativity.

Purchased materials were used:
Sandpaper 150 units, two cans of black acrylic spray paint, screws m6x30 with nuts, double sockets for open wiring, silicone sealant for aquariums.

Instruments:
Small circular saw, hacksaw, drill (a la dremel), screwdriver, drills 5, 6, 8mm, taps m6
With the permission of the respective leader, after work, I removed both hemispheres and dragged me into a locksmith.

In his secret reserves he dug up a stand with wheels and three pipes.

Friends at the factory honed the plugs, and a car mechanic friend welded the pipe guides to the stand.

From the broken mountain of furniture I collected sheets of chipboard and sawed it in a couple of hours, and assembled a box for feed, net and other things on the screws. The hats of the screws were puttied and the entire box was painted with matt black acrylic paint from a spray can. In the center, it was necessary to install a support from a 50x50mm bar so that the hemisphere from plexiglass would not squeeze out the weight of water and soil (about 150 kg).

I drilled 3 holes in the rim of the lower hemisphere and cut the m6 thread. Screwed in 3 centering pins 30 mm long. I used rings cut from a reinforced hose as dampers. The lower hemisphere under its weight rests on three pipes, the centering pins are recessed into the holes of the plugs at the ends of the pipe. Under the central support I put a strip of silicone 4 mm thick.

Then, using a masking tape, he marked the outer cover for maintenance and the hole for ventilation and lighting and filter wires.

Also, two luminaires with Aliexpress were fixed on the lid

I cut off my native mounts and also installed a pair of suction cups on each.

Under the round shape, we had to redo the mount of the filter pump. I cut a strip of Plexiglas 4mm and with the help of a hairdryer gave it the desired shape. I screwed the filter pad to the stem with nylon bolts, and moved the suction cups to a new location.

He removed the wires into a rubber corrugated sleeve, having previously made a cut from the side. The corrugated sleeve is attached with plastic screeds to the adhesive pads used by IT specialists.

On the back wall of the box I fixed two double sockets. I inserted a programmable timer, hung a compressor for air supply.

He poured soil, planted plants, poured 135 liters of water, and after a couple of weeks he first settled shrimp and then fish.

Now my every morning at work begins with feeding the hydrobionts. And then the planning meeting ... and the work started.
In infrequent minutes of relaxation, this living creature pleases. And colleagues at first went on an excursion.

Why are you telling me? There are certain requirements not established by me.
Do you prefer over-smoked, sleek publications, with 1000 photos, with a description of the place of production and purchase of each self-tapping screw? Moreover, the one who placed it cannot hold a spoon correctly, not to mention a drill or God forbid a file. Or a man with golden hands who collected a really cool thing. Yes, I didn’t reach somewhere, and I didn’t tell where I bought M6 nuts. But! He is a real master! For the sake of people like him, this site was created. You hold on to the letter too much and forget about the spirit. You also enter the stick system - less than 40 photos, so homemade is bad! And then you will copy-paste from foreign sites.
I have said everything.
Yes, we may not be children, but a number of requirements for publishing an article have not been fulfilled.
I like this. There would be covers from the barrochamer — be sure to repeat. Described normally, the sequence is clear. A little creativity and can be repeated. Well, we are not like children, to twist the self-tapping screw in the picture? Or children?
But is this supposed to be placed in the homemade section? No high-quality photos, no step-by-step execution. As for the aquarium itself, it is not a convenient form. The lid is small, it will be difficult to clean the walls or work with the soil during maintenance. Sticking wires do not add aesthetics either.
By the way, and in those photos that are not there where the inscription "Imdmyself.com" is, do not count the graphic overlay.
I just like it.
And it is right! If I like, then all experts and aesthetes can not be wasted! I had a spherical glass aquarium, indeed, there were lens distortions, and it’s not very convenient to clean the walls.

Yes, there is a lens effect. Small fish seem large. But no one told me that it’s so bad, and I just like it.
Turbid and scratched? Yes. But if we ourselves are not eternal, then what to soar over the corruption of things?
Aquarium is here and now. I like colleagues.
It's enough.
I am not a supporter of round aquariums, the picture of the underwater world is distorted, and Plexiglass is not the best material - it gets cloudy over time, but it was done "test", given the gratuitous material to which you gave a second life!
Cool aquarium!
