Step 1:
Let's start by simulating shabby metal, to begin with, cover the column with aluminum tape, creating small waves, align the film and get an aluminum surface with small irregularities.
Paint the entire surface of the column with a marker
Carefully we start to wash the marker with a fleecy cloth, but not too much should leave a little marker (the amount of remaining marker depends on the degree of metal fraying that you want to get)

Step 2:
Imitation of welding with thermo-glue.
We cover the entire open part of the board with thermo-glue, create a “border” with thermo-glue and give it a welding shape (letting the thermo-glue point, but without the space between the points) and cover the glue with a marker.
It turns out something like this:
The result is a column in the style of post-apocalypse of shabby metal.
