A few useful secrets for motorists

In general, the owner of the car always has something to do. We offer several secrets that can make the life of car enthusiasts a little easier.

Secret 1. Protective solution for optics and mirrors

Autumn and spring periods of car use are associated with constant pollution of optics. From driving through puddles and slush, as well as from splashes from under the wheels of other cars, the headlights quickly become covered with a gray opaque “film”.



To wash after each trip is unprofitable, and inexpedient. A much better solution is to treat the head and rear optics and mirrors with a paraffin solution. To do this, we need a paraffin candle, a White Spirit solvent and a small container.

The candle should be crushed on a grater and pour into a container. Then add solvent and mix thoroughly. To better dissolve the paraffin, the liquid can be slightly heated with a building hair dryer. However, without heating it turns out pretty well.



As a result, we have a budget and effective solution-aquabarrier. Thanks to paraffin, it creates a thin film on the treated surface, which does not allow dirt to be retained on headlights and mirrors.

To apply, simply dampen a cloth with our protective compound. Then carefully rub with it a surface prone to contamination. When processing, try not to skip so that the aqua barrier is evenly distributed over the entire part that needs protection.



The coating should be applied only on clean surfaces.

Secret 2. We start car with a dead battery

If suddenly the battery on the car is exhausted, and you need to go urgently, the following procedure will help to start the car. For its implementation, only a strong cable or cord (or other strong rope) and a jack will be needed.

We put the car on the "handbrake" and turn the drive wheel, and then hang it out with a jack.



Next, a cord or cable should be wound around the drive wheel. At the first turn, we fix it on the tread so that it does not slip. We wind the cord by manually turning the wheel. Enough one and a half to two turns.

The next step: we turn on the second or third gear in the car, insert the ignition key and put it in the “On” position.We leave the car and carefully (so that it does not fly off the jack), but quickly and sharply pull the end of the cord wrapped around the drive wheel. Its promotion should be enough to start the car.



In fact, this method is an analogue of starting the engine with a pusher. However, it is more versatile, since it does not require acceleration of the car.

When using the method, we observe safety precautions. Be sure to put the car on the "handbrake" before jacking. When unwinding the cable from the wheel, we do not wrap it around the hand, but simply pull it by the end. After the engine starts, put the gear on “neutral” and only then remove it from the jack.

Secret 3. Budget door insulation

Inexpensive car models have poor sound insulation. All kinds of road sounds and wheel noise penetrate the cabin, interfering with comfortable movement.



A large number of extraneous sounds let the doors pass. However, do not rush to make multilayer and expensive sound insulation with their complete disassembly. In order to remove most of the sounds and significantly reduce the noise level, it is enough to glue the main holes located under the panel of the outer skin.



For partial noise isolation, we need two or three sheets of a self-adhesive 4-millimeter splenitis (in its absence, vibration isolation will work). This material - in addition to its soundproofing qualities - serves as an excellent sealant. In addition, it is easily glued, without any heating and special tools.

We cut out parts of the same shape as the holes, but slightly larger. We glue small holes and seats for pistons with separate squares of sound insulation (so they will “sit” more tightly).



After gluing all the holes on each door, we collect them.



Now the cabin should be noticeably quieter.

Secret 4. Express cleaning of rubber mats

Finally, another simple trick, especially relevant in anticipation of winter. Everyone knows that car mats get dirty very quickly in the winter. You can clean them quickly and without any expense with the help of snow (there is a lot of this good in our country!).

We take out the mat from the car to a clean place and throw it with snow. With a brush-trimmer (it is better, of course, to use a separate brush for these purposes) we drive its snow mass over the surface. Very soon, it will absorb the main dirt.



After that, it remains only to sweep away the “snow absorbent” from the cleaned mat and drive on.

Scandalist, you probably had a rope of the wrong caliber, or you twisted the wrong way. And the funny thing is when the car croaks from the jack and breaks the bottom of the car, then you will definitely learn right away that you need to put a new one and a good battery, not a rope pull like a squeak
