This article will be of interest to everyone who works with wood or soft metals.
In it, the author of the YouTube channel "TheDacchio" will tell you how to make a universal reusable file yourself. It will use sandpaper with a Velcro base.
He will make two such sandpaper holders in sizes of 50x10x400 and 30x10x400 mm at once.
These fixtures can be made with even a minimum of tools. Hacksaw, sandpaper, file and screwdriver. This is quite enough.
The author simply showed some new techniques.
Instruments, used by the author.
- Lathe
- A circular saw
- Band-saw
- Drilling machine
- Orbital sander
- Screwdriver
- Corner, roulette
- Stationery knife.
Materials
- Sheet plywood 10 mm thick
- VELCRO fabric (for Velcro)
- Two-component epoxy resin
- Sandpaper on a sticky basis.
Manufacturing process.
First of all, the author cuts two blanks from 10 mm sheet plywood with dimensions of 50x400 and 30x400 mm.
Then he marks the shape of the pen with a pencil, and cuts off the excess on the band saw.
Further, having screwed here such a blank with an emery cloth to the drilling machine, we obtained a grinding machine.
It processes the edges of workpieces.
If anyone does not have a drill - you can work on a turning. Sews the edges a little.
Grinds manually, and then smoothes surfaces using an orbital sander.
Measures and cuts the necessary pieces from VELCRO fabric. This is a fabric that is used in Velcro.
Then it spreads a two-component epoxy resin, smears the surface and glues the fabric, pressing the workpieces. For better bonding, before applying the resin, you can walk with a metal brush over the surface of the workpiece and make it rough, but this is superfluous.
It also measures and cuts out the necessary pieces from sandpaper, it is also on a sticky, but already "fluffy" basis.
“Sticks” sandpaper to the tool.
Well, the tool is almost ready, it remains only to drill holes for hanging, and slightly countersink them.
All is ready!
A few tests on a wooden block. Faceting.
Just a few movements can get the desired result. Naturally, you can use sandpaper of various gridness.
Thanks to the author for an interesting tool for manual grinding!
All the good tools!
