In the manufacture of sheet metal products for its bending are traditionally used fixtures, which are called - listogiba. However, it is possible to bend the galvanized sheet without the help of special devices, using improvised means. For example, in the manner described below.
How to bend a galvanized iron sheet evenly
In order to smoothly bend the galvanized sheet exactly along the line marked on it, you will need:
• channel;
• a square tube or a long massive corner;
• two clamps of any type;
• mallet, wooden or rubber.
Sheet metal using these items is bent as follows:
1. Lay the sheet on the channel so that the proposed fold line, which must be pre-drawn, is located exactly above its edge.
2. A pipe is placed on top of a galvanized sheet, also placing it strictly along the fold line.
3. Compress the channel, the pipe and the sheet metal between them with clamps.
4. Turn the resulting structure on its side and with light strokes the mallet bend the free part of the galvanized sheet onto the channel. First, alternately, angles, and then along the entire length of the fold line.
5. Use a mallet to tap the entire galvanized part bent onto the channel.
6. Remove the clamps from the structure and get a sheet of galvanized iron, neatly bent exactly along the intended line.
Bending a galvanized sheet in this way, you can make from it not very complex curly products. For example, a flat and neat outer window sill.
How to make an external window sill from a galvanized iron sheet (low tide)
In order to make a galvanized sheet cast out of an already bent as described above, the work on it is continued as follows:
1. Mark and draw on it with a pencil another bend line, spaced from the first by a distance equal to the width of the tide.
2. Lay the sheet with a fold line on the edge of the channel and press it along it with a pipe.
3. Tighten the entire structure with clamps.
4. Again lay it on its side and bend with a mallet the uncompressed part of the sheet on the channel in the same order as when installing the first shelf of the ebb tide - first the corners, and then the central part.
5. By tapping a mallet level the plane of the bent part of the sheet on the channel.
6. Remove the clamps and disassemble the structure.
The result is a neat and aesthetic casting made of galvanized iron without the use of any special devices.
