DIY slingshot of increased power

Hello dear readers and the inhabitants of our site!
In this article, the author of the YouTube channelGarage The Beetle will tell you how to make a powerful slingshot from available materials.

The slingshot turned out to be a very original design, the main feature of which is the increased length of the cords.
Materials
- Cutting boards

- Wooden round timber
- Steel sheet 2 mm thick, or an unnecessary steel stand from the monitor

- 6 mm steel bar or stud
- Scrap of strong but supple skin
- Furniture castors

- Balls from the bearing with a diameter of 6 mm
- Two Pezzer's catheters (can be purchased at the pharmacy, the price is about 100 rubles)


- Two-component epoxy resin
- Extended coupling nut with M6 thread, bolts.


Instruments, used by the author.
- Screwdriver
- Grinder with a cutting disc for metal
- Feather drills for wood
- Electric jigsaw or hacksaw
- Sandpaper, file
- Vernier caliper, marking pencil
- Rivet gun
- Scissors for metal
- Belt sander
- Vise.

Manufacturing process.
First of all, the author made a template for the future pen and transferred the outline to the workpiece from the board.

Then, for a more convenient subsequent processing, I drilled complex angles with a pen drill.


Using an electric jigsaw, I cut the workpiece. Of course, you can use a hacksaw, but it will take a lot of time.



I cleaned the workpiece with sandpaper and a file, checked the perpendicularity of the upper surface to the base.


At the top of the handle, I drilled two holes for installing the mounting bolts.


In a piece of seclotextolite, I drilled two holes, secured the bolts and tried on to the handle.



Then the author mixed the components of the epoxy resin according to the instructions, and inserted the bolts into the holes. Left the handle until the resin is fully polymerized. This usually takes from several hours to a day.


While the resin hardens, the author set about making the frame. To do this, he uses a steel plate 2 mm thick from the monitor stand. Marks for cutting.



Cuts a workpiece using a grinder with a cutting disc for metal. In difficult angles, pre-drill holes.



The edges of the workpiece after processing the grinder have sharp edges. The author clamps the workpiece in a vice and processes the edges with a file.


But that is not all, you need to make grooves for the bolts. Drills a series of holes.


After file processing, the M6 ​​bolt should easily enter the holes.



Now it's the turn of the furniture wheels. The rollers themselves are not needed, only the bracket is needed. Cuts the axis with a grinder and knocks it out.



The author also clamps the obtained brackets in a vise and modifies the grinder to such a look.




At the edges of the frame, I drilled two holes and made brackets with a rivet gun.
Then, putting the brackets in the correct position, drilled another hole and installed the second rivets.




The author cuts blanks for rollers from a wooden round timber.


Then it processes on a manual belt sander, holding it upside down in a vice.
The grooves in the rollers are made on the rounded edge of the tape, rotating them along the axis.



Here are the videos. The author drilled holes in the center of the rollers, put on a bracket, inserted an axis and gently riveted its edge. It is desirable to lubricate the axle itself with either laundry soap or silicone grease.




The slingshot itself turned out to be of such a design; at the bottom of the handle, the author inserted a steel bar. It is needed for attaching the cords.


Then, from the trim of strong but elastic skin, the grip is cut. Only do this with serious scissors.



I punched two holes in the resulting blank, and then pulled the edge of the catheter through them. By the way, a very suitable thing for strands. The catheter itself is made of latex, and has a factory cut on the edge. She also helps to reliably fix it to capture.





That's all, the original designer slingshot is ready! The lower part of the strands had to be fixed with plastic puffs, for the reason that they jumped off when tensioned.



Well, you can start the test! The author will shoot the balls from the bearing with a diameter of 6 mm.
The so-called pellets are also very well recommended. But they can be found only near the railways in cities engaged in metallurgy. They are very heavy and strong.
A cardboard box for a ball is not an obstacle at all; deep dents have appeared on the wall.


The ball broke through the first bottle through, but the bottle did not crumble.


The following targets just scattered into small fragments.


Here is such a quality slingshot turned out by the author. True, in our childhood, slingshots were tested on glass blocks. The most powerful products pierced both walls with pellets.
