Soccer Ball Bluetooth Column



Hi everyone, this homemade fans of football and music will like it. I propose to consider an interesting bluetooth speaker design, which is made in the form of a soccer ball. Even if you are not a fan of football, you will surely enjoy the sound of such a speaker, as it has excellent acoustics. The project is quite complicated, you will need a circular saw to work, since it will be problematic to cut all the details manually. If you are interested in the project, I propose to study in more detail how to make such a column!



Materials and tools used by the author:

Material List:

Column manufacturing process:

Step one. Cut the blanks
The ball consists of many segments, all of them are then glued together. First, take the ball, remove one segment from it and make a template out of it. Next, we cut segments according to this template. Here the belt sander will come to our aid.

After that, all segments must be ground at a clearly defined angle so that the ball can be assembled. Here it will take a little thought and calculate the desired angle. We start grinding, the author has a special disk machine on which the angle of the working table changes.













Step Two Ball assembly
When all the parts are ready, the ball can be assembled. Here we need liquid nails or other reliable glue. When the whole thing dries, we grind the ball well with sandpaper until we get a smooth and uniform surface.




Step Three The foundation
For the ball, you need to make the basis so that it does not roll anywhere. Also, the power supply and the entire electronics. For its manufacture, you can use plywood and boards.









Step Four Speaker grills
Next, we will make grills for the speakers, the so-called protective nets. The author cut out the cases from plywood, in the future these details will be covered with fabric.



Step Five Painting and holes
Now the ball can be painted. If you doubt the strength of the structure, the material can be impregnated with glue. The author paints the ball in white. We also drill holes for the speakers, for this we need a pen drill or a crown. Do not forget about the holes for passive emitters, they will allow you to get good bass. The ball stand is painted black. As for the protective nets, they are a special fabric that passes air well and repels dust.












Step Six Assembly
The column can be assembled, set the ball on a wooden dowel using glue. Additionally, the author screws it to the base using self-tapping screws. We install a power supply unit, a bluetooth module, as well as a socket for connecting a power cable and a switch in the stand.












Seventh step. Testing
