Metal is a high-strength material, but sometimes, for various reasons, small products from it also break, breaking up into pieces. It is difficult to use welding when repairing such a “small thing”, it is much easier to try to stick the broken parts of the product to each other. Let us see how this can be done, using the example of repairing a small metal clamp with which a table lamp was mounted.
In order to glue together two parts of a metal product you will need:
1. A two-component epoxy adhesive, the description of which indicates the possibility of its use for bonding metal. The container with glue is usually made in the form of a syringe with two cylinders, one of which contains epoxy resin and the other a hardener.
2. Alcohol.
3. Any small cuvette (a blister pack from the same glue will do) and scissors.
The gluing of the broken parts of the metal clamp to each other is as follows:
1. The metal surfaces to be bonded are degreased with alcohol.
2. Scissors open the container with glue
and the piston squeezes the necessary amount of resin and hardener from it into the cuvette in the proportion established by the design of the syringe.
3. Thoroughly mix the components of the glue.
4. Carefully apply the finished glue to the bonded surfaces of the product.
5. Firmly press the glued parts of the clamp to each other.
It will take at least half an hour to wait for the final hardening of the glue. The result is a fairly strong connection of metal to metal with a neat glue line.
Of course, the strength of a clamp that is repaired in such a way is not inferior to a whole metal product, but if it is not heavily loaded, it can serve for a long time.
