Today we will make a tiny hatchet.
And the material for this homemade work was trimmed from an old ax, which the author of the YouTube channel “Good Master” restored earlier.
The author thought for a long time what to make of this small trim, as already mentioned, he turned out as a result of creating this ax:
To begin with, we will need to cut off all that is superfluous from this workpiece and remove the metal deformed by time. Clamp the workpiece in a vice and go.
To smooth the surface, all means are good, but we will use the most ordinary - angle grinder with a petal circle.
Now the markup. In order to make the marking lines better visible, paint the surface with a permanent marker.
Since the final product will be small, the author uses mainly hand tools for processing. And basically it's a file and a file.
At this stage, you can cut part of the workpiece, we no longer need it.
So, the side part of the ax is slowly emerging.
The author decided to make a hole for the ax with the help of drills, so we are looking for the middle, core and drill. Here you need to be very careful and when drilling, observe perpendicularity along the planes.
After drilling, we grind the partition with a file, and then a drill with carbide cutters will go into battle.
It is time to form the blade. With a hole, this is easier to do. Mark the middle line, and then the cut lines.
On the one hand, the author was cutting with the help of an angle grinder and immediately messed up a little.
Therefore, for the second side, he made a disc for the drill from the disc of the grinder, and already continued to work for her.
This drill is Chinese, the author bought it on the website of the largest online store Aliexpress.
Well, in the meantime, it remains for us to slightly sharpen all the facets of the future ax and polish them.
And in the end, here we have such beauty:
The author spent quite a lot of time on manufacturing only one ax (2 pm). Now let's do the ax. To do this, first draw a sketch on a piece of paper.
The author chose this form not by chance, then you will understand why. The material for the manufacture will be a piece of beech, which was just waiting for its fate in the workshop.
Transfer the shape to it and cut it out with a jigsaw.
By the way, this fret saw is also homemade. It is universal, for different nail files. We will give the final shape of the ax with a strip of sandpaper.
The handle is small, so the processing is very fast.

The author fixed the ax with glue and now it remains only to process it with oil. We will make the cutting edge on a Chinese knife sharpener, it will turn out more precisely. We start with the stone with the largest grain.
The final fine-tuning is done on a leather belt with GOI paste.
The author also prepared here such a pruned branch of a nut:
He impregnated it with varnish so that the bark peels less. It remains only to align the ends and make a cut for the hatchet, this will be a stand for our homemade product.

This souvenir is intended mainly for sharpening pencils and will look pretty good on your desktop. Sharpening the hatchet makes it easy to even cut the pencil.
As conceived by the author, this homemade product is a gift option. Well, what a gift without packaging. In a box of a suitable size, cut out the substrate and make a lodgement from it.
