When working, you will need:
1. Rigid magnetic tape measure.
2. A piece of board 50 mm thick or more along which a shallow groove about 3-5 mm wide is sawn.
3. A grinder with a disk thickness of 1.5-1.8 mm and a diameter of 250 mm, designed for cutting metal.
How to cut reinforcing bars into identical long rods
Work on cutting reinforcement into long bars of the same size is performed as follows:
1. Several full-sized reinforcing whips are collected in a bundle (no more than three, for more convenient cutting) and align their ends in the bundle relative to each other.
2. Pull them from a common bundle of reinforcement and lay on the ground.
3. At a distance from the ends of the beam, approximately equal to the required length of the rods, a piece of board with a groove is placed under it.
4. Hook the tape measure over the end of the beam and measure on it the desired length of the rods.
5. Combine the groove on the board laid under the reinforcement with the mark of the required length of the rods.
6. Cut off the grinder, focusing on the line of the grooves on the board, all three rods in the beam at once.
7. The ends of the cut rods are pushed to the side,
and the remaining “tails” of reinforcing whips combine with their beginning.
8. Again, along the line of the grooves on the board, the rods of the necessary length are cut from the whips. The main thing is not to move the lining board from its place when working. If in doubt, you can align the location of its grooves at the ends of the rods cut earlier.
In this way, pushing the finished rods to the side, you can cut them fast enough as much as necessary. However, it is suitable only if it is necessary to make rods longer than a meter and, at the same time, maintaining the high accuracy of their size is not required.
How to cut reinforcement into short, equal length bars
For the manufacture of short rods, trimming reinforcement is usually used, remaining after cutting from full-length whips of long rods. Cut them as follows:
1. From the edge of the substrate board, measure the distance equal to the required length of the rods, and make a narrow groove in this place across it.
2. Trim trim is collected in a bundle, while their ends are aligned relative to each other.
3. Put a bunch of scraps of reinforcement on the board, combining their ends with a groove.
4. Press the reinforcement with your foot to the substrate and cut it off, focusing on the edge of the board.
5. As a result, short bars of the required length remain on the board,
which are cleaned, for example, in a bucket, and in their place the next bunch of three pieces of reinforcement is laid on the substrate. It is not recommended to collect more than three scraps in a bundle, otherwise it will be inconvenient to press them with the foot to the board when sawing.
So, practically, without resorting to the help of a marking and marker, you can quickly cut full-sized reinforcing whips into long and short bars of the same size. The only advice is to work as a big grinder, and when working with it, do not forget about overalls and high-quality safety glasses.
