In anticipation of the New Year holidays, I want to add a bit of humor to my article about the Dolphin model.
Somehow this photo caught my eye.
And then I remembered how I built the Dolphin model. Was good modelflied well.
But the design was quite complicated.
I decided to build a model that would be very simple in design and control, which would be strong enough and maintainable.
The "general designer" Zayets will help me, nicknamed "Posner" and the "chief engineer" of the Monkeys, nicknamed "Banana". In my opinion, you already know them.
We took this drawing as a basis, put down the main dimensions.
We went through several options, from which to build a model?
They argued with the General for a long time.
We stopped at the sheet insulation "Expanded polystyrene".
I bought several sheets of this insulation of gray color. At a price of 80 rubles per sheet. Sheets of standard size: 1200 mm X 500 mm X 20 mm.
Directly on these sheets, they made markings and began to cut out the details. Cut out individual parts, customized them in place and immediately glued.
It’s hard to work with the "general." Everything is wrong with him.
Slowly but construction progressed.
They quickly got rid of the wing.
They began to glue the fuselage, try on the keel, adjust it and glue it right there.
When installing the keel with the motor, there were disagreements with the "general" and the "chief" designer. Found a compromise ..
Then they moved to the lower plane of the wing and began to mount the bottom of the fuselage with a redan.
There were no difficulties either.
The model has acquired its shape. Immediately started covering with colored tape. Made inscriptions, emblem.
The designers once again checked the correct assembly of the model.

Before the first flight.
Here are the performance characteristics of the model.

The flight weight of the model is 980 g.
Motor - Turnigy D3548 / 4 1100KV Power - 910 W Traction - 2150g.

Servomoshinki - NHT900 - 2 pieces.
Even when the wing was cut out, looking at it, I said that it looks like a Wedge. As it turned out, our model is qualified by NATO under this name - "Wedge" - "Wedge". Later we gave the model the name "Dolphin". Beautiful turned out model.Simple and obedient in flight. Yes, and then there’s nothing to break - a styrofoam plate!
For the first flight, the lower part of the fuselage and redans were temporarily removed and the landing gear was put.
