This is the third stand of this type for soldering irons. One made in the garage and for the garage, I use the second at home. And I collected this in my youth in the late 90s))
And so what we need:
Piece of furniture plate
pair of electrodes
a pair of washers
some screws
cork from a plastic bottle.
A little time and desire to make something.
The stand is assembled on "anyhow to do", if desired, it could be done much more beautiful and neat.
But damn it, it's just a stand, it performs the main function, holds soldering irons, no more.
The aesthetic design of such a stand is useless, anyway, there will always be burns from a soldering iron and a drop of rosin on it.
The basis is a piece of chipboard, you can have some kind of insulating material, iron, a piece of wood, a floorboard or anything that has a suitable shape and size.
The holders are made of bare electrodes wound around a suitable pipe.
So that the soldering iron tip does not rest against the base and does not burn it, spiral holders are mounted through metal washers to the base, and the soldering iron tip just rests on the washer, which protects the base from the hot soldering iron tip.
In essence, this is basically all that is required of the stand. Then we add according to the required functionality, free space and taste. It could be a jar of rosin, or a pin for a solder coil, a soldering pad, a fiber sponge or sandpaper gasket to clean the tips, or something else.
