The ancient Indian treatise on the flights of "Vimanika Shastra" or, as I built Vimana "Ariel"

The ancient Indian treatise on the flights of

"Sutra 2
Maharshii Bharavaja:
"A balloonist is one who knows the secrets."
Scientists say that there are 32 secrets of the functioning of the vimaana that a balloonist should know from knowledgeable tutors. Only such a person can be entrusted with controlling the aircraft, and no other way. ”

Just think, because it was written many centuries ago, and modern aeronautics - aviation has only two centuries!
Hello dear modelers.

It was not by chance that I began my story with a quote from an ancient Indian treatise on the flights of Vimanika Shastra.

Once, I was very interested in this manuscript and, under the influence of the description of some flying devices of the Old Indian Gods, began to build model Vimana.

I must say that the gods had many aircraft. But, at that moment I decided to build this particular “Hand to Wiman”, probably the role played by watching the feature film “Kin Dza Dza”.

Starting to build a model, I vaguely imagined what I was building and what could come of it.
Here is a vision of this aircraft was the artist Arseny Lapin.

I heard from someone. or read about it, that for the filming of the ball the acting model was provided on the radio control, and it inspired me.
By the way,

The main material for creating a model of this aircraft, I took the ceiling tiles. For gluing the ceilings, even the glue was special - a universal, moisture-resistant “Titanium”. Based on those components: motor, regulator, battery, screw, servos, etc., the model size was chosen. Height - 450mm. Diameter - 350mm.
I cut the blanks of the bearing housing from the ceiling, made cutouts in them and inserted one blank into another.

I made a similar design that flew, but frankly, I never learned how to fly on it.

The difference between my new design was that sectors from the ceiling were glued inside this crosspiece,

which in assembled form were a "pyramid" with streamlined planes. Which were supposed to create the Coanda effect.

Many experiments have been conducted with various forms of the "pyramid".

Outside, rings from the ceiling were installed on the supporting case, on top of which, subsequently, the outer skin of the apparatus was to lie.

This is how it looked.

Inside this pyramid, I mounted control surfaces, LV and PB.

This allowed the model to take off and, moving to a horizontal position, fly.

Further attempts to make the model move in a horizontal plane, while maintaining a vertical position, did not lead to anything, and further work on the creation of Vimana - Ariel was discontinued.

The tips and advice of other aircraft modelers who followed the construction of the model on the forum.modelka.com forum did not help me.

Apparently I did not have enough “gravity caps” for further work on the model.

So I had such an attempt to build “Rukma Vimana.” I hope that I will return to this topic more than once.
On this, let me finish my story.
Goodbye, your Valerian.
