Have you seen such a plane - Geophysics -

Hello, dear guests, I am glad that you, together with me, are again visiting my namesake,.
Let's talk about mysticism today! No, I’m not going to retell to you the mystical novel by N. V. Gogol “Viy” or to talk about some strange, inexplicable phenomena.

Most likely, I invite you, along with me, to touch the secret.
I think that few people are familiar with this mystical plane.

I want to tell you about the legendary Soviet aircraft M-55 Geophysics, which was codified by NATO as (RA - 55204) “Mystik.” It’s hard for me to understand that they were so scared in this plane and that they found so incomprehensible in it if given is he such a name?

The development of this aircraft began in the 60s, when Western and American intelligence literally stuffed the sky of our country with reconnaissance balloons and balloons. Here, to combat them, this unusual aircraft was created.

The M-55 was rather like an ordinary glider, only of a large size, because it had a longer elongation wing, but differed from the glider in the “frame” scheme - it had two load-bearing beams.

Despite its impressive size, the aircraft possessed exceptional maneuverability comparable to fighter aircraft.

The Americans tried to recreate this plane in computer graphics.

Before you start creating a model based on this aircraft, you had to find the drawings. There were very few materials relating to this aircraft.

I used these drawings here. In any case, the main dimensions could be determined.

Model must be a pusher.
Approximate dimensions.
Length - 910 mm.
Span - 1505 mm.
Many parts are made from a single piece of Penoplex insulation.

The wing consoles are cut and processed manually to the desired size.

Particular difficulties arose in the manufacture of air intakes.

I cut the blanks of beams made of insulation longitudinally into two halves, choosing an unnecessary insulation, inserted wooden slats into them for strength, and then glued them together.

The fuselage was also made by selecting, unnecessary insulation from the inside, cut along the workpiece, and then glued.

To make the model more copyable, he began to fit the model with colored tape.

Mounted beams.

I mount the wing on the fuselage.

Hung ailerons and RV.

The model is ready.

I tried to enlarge photos of the finished model from my topic on forum.modelka.com.

It did not work, so that anyone would be interested, look there. It was 5 years ago and the quality of the photos is very poor, sorry. Photographed by an ordinary "soap box".

In any case, you got an idea about the created model.

To my great chagrin and shame, the model never took off (for various reasons).

Well, here we are today talking about the "mysticism." Thank you all for your attention.
See you, your Valerian master.

I would have cast it from lead. Finally there would be a "plane"
Good afternoon,
why not fly?
You do not know where to find the 3D model? I would like to try to do on CNC.

We advise you to read:

Hand it for the smartphone ...
