Hello dear friends! I'll tell you how I spent my day off at work. My hobby is fishing and sometimes something needs to be cut off, but there is nothing at hand. And for this case, I decided to make a fishing knife.
And so let's start, from the tool we need a grinder, a drill, an emery cloth of different grain size and this
And so we proceed. For our knife we take a small bearing
We heat it, make an oblique slot, in the future it will be easier to shape the tip of the knife
Now heat and forge forming a flat surface. You need to heat well, otherwise the workpiece will crack, and will break at all
Now we are finally checking everything, the plane and with chalk draw the contour of the knife
Next, we cut off all the excess, grind the handle on an emery
Now coarse grinding
Next, proceed to the handle. I decided to make a pen out of type-setting birch bark, as it is not whimsical and not afraid of water, moreover, I am for natural materials. I birch bumped from a stump homemade rounded with sharpening. So faster and more accurate
Next we need a stud, nuts and 2 washers
In birch bark, in the center, we make a hole and string it on a hairpin. Then we cook for 2 hours periodically tightening our bark. After cooking, it sticks together so that the chisel only peel off. After cooking, making a bolster, we put on our birch bark
Now at the end I put the aluminum plate, cut the thread, and make the end nut, I was lying around, I don’t know where, the bronze nut, I pulled it, tried it on and left it
Now the best part. Grind the emery handle to remove all unnecessary
Give the desired shape
I covered the blade with a thick layer of varnish, in the future I will etch a simple pattern
We remove a bit more
After the formation of the form we need, I cook the pen in clean wax, in a water bath so that the birch bark does not take water
I cook about an hour until the gurgle does not stop. After cooking, I wipe with rags. I put a drawing with a needle and with a blade I remove what is not needed
I poison the block with 9 volts, plus I throw it on the knife, and wrap it in a cotton pad. I dip the disk in saline and press it to the place of drawing for 30 seconds, periodically wetting the disk with the solution. To make the picture clearer, you need to wipe the etching place after each hold. Well here is the final look of my creation
I ask you not to strictly judge this is my first article.Sorry for the spelling. Until next time
