The step-down voltage converter on the UC3843 is from 24 to 2..18 Volts. up to 3 amperes.
When reducing the shunt to 1 Ohm, you can remove up to 6 Amps!

The circuit works but behaves like a linear stabilizer with low efficiency.

With a p-channel fieldman, complete nonsense will turn out, put the N-channel and two-winding choke-transformer. Or invert the UC output.
