After my house was connected to the all-country water supply (Yes, yes, there is a central water supply in our village!), There was a need to equip the bathroom with a sink, toilet and shower. I’ll tell you about my shower room in this article.
Of course, if you take a certain number of Russian tank tickets, you can buy a ready-made shower cubicle, install it and you will no longer be soared about this.
Moreover, those who can afford it may not read further.
But I can not. I can not and I do not want. Partly because despite the large selection of showers in the shops of my city, I don’t like them, they are too expensive, and most importantly, not one of them fits into the corner where I want to make a shower.
To equip my shower, I used the following:
Shower tray 85X85 cm, for 800 rubles
The mixer with a shower, for 750 rubles
Fittings, adapters metapole, different, only 500 rubles
Sealant automobile, silicone, 2 pieces. for 150 rub.
Drain and siphon from the sink, with a corrugated hose, for 150 rubles.
Metapol MP16 - 10 meters at 40 rubles.
Agril 60 microns, a section of 2.5 meters.
Ceiling curtain, 2 meters 200 rub.
Square ceiling, 1 pc. 150 rub
Bars, trim boards, nails, screws.
We cut four racks 30 cm long from a 5X5 cm bar. From the trimmings of the boards using nails we knock together three pyramids, which will be additional supports for the pallet. On two side walls, we nail two slats with slots for the pallet so that it fits tightly into its edge and does not move under the weight of a washable person.
Between the pyramids and the pallet, I put gaskets made of foil isolone 3 mm, they are not visible in the photo.
We connect the drain from the sink, the siphon did not fit, so we will make a water seal from the corrugated hose, bending it in the form of the letter S.
The sides are closed with two pieces of plastic panels, the corner is closed with a decorative strip using double-sided tape.
The edges of the pallet adjacent to the wall are carefully coated with automotive sealant.
Why car? Yes, because many years of experience in using all sorts of other macroflexes and other brand-name sealants in a city apartment showed that despite the properties stated on the package, they all turn yellow, crack and mold begins to appear on them. The only sealant that is suitable for permanent use in damp places is a silicone automotive sealant gasket, which is sold in car dealerships, in large tubes like toothpaste.
Further work on installing the shower went as the pipes were laid and the mixer was installed, and then it was delayed a bit until the walls were finished with plastic panels.
But already in this unfinished form, the shower tray began to be partially used.
When the work on finishing the ceiling and walls of the bathroom was completed, it was the turn to install the curtains. Guides from curtains are attached to the ceiling, and hooks with wheels are inserted into them. A piece of agricultural cloth 2.5 meters long is hung on the hooks.
A shower holder and toilet shelves are mounted on the side wall.
The choice of agril for a curtain is not accidental, I tried both polyethylene and a special curtain for the bathroom, but I did not like it. With agril, everything is simple - six months later, as soon as the curtain turns yellow from water salts and splashes with soapy drops, I take it off and use it on the farm or in the garden. And at this place a new piece of agril is bought, for 50 rubles, and again clean and beautiful.
All joints and cracks are again smeared with silicone sealant, and the installation of the shower is completed.
