The process of making a knife:
Step one. Forging
The knife manufacturing process begins with forging. First of all, we heat the star and chop it into two parts, we need only one half. Having heated the workpiece, by cutting we remove the teeth of the sprocket. Well, then you can start pulling the workpiece into the primary profile of the blade. With a little effort, and right before our eyes, a piece of iron turns into the familiar outline of a knife. At the end of the stage, we extend the shank, and also form the primary bevels of the blade. That's all, at this step we got an excellent blank for the knife.
Step Two Work with the grinder
Next, we have to finalize the blade, namely, we need to remove all the defects that remained after the forging. Here the author works as a grinder with a thick grinding wheel. Level the profile and grind the plane. We also need to align the blade, but here we need to be careful not to overheat the blade, otherwise the steel can turn into ordinary iron. Step Three Quenching
We proceed to hardening the knife, this procedure will make the blade durable, and the knife will remain sharp for a long time if the steel is good.The author tempers only the blade, for this we heat the blade and lower it into the water only the blade. Step Four A pen
We make a handle for the knife, here we need a wooden block. Cut off the desired piece and drill a hole for the shank. Next, the knife shank is heated and inserted into the handle, the metal will burn its own path. At the end, pour superglue into the handle, it will firmly glue the shank to the handle.
In the end, we grind the handle well, the main work on shaping is carried out by a grinder with a disk nozzle for installing sandpaper. As a finish, you can go manually with fine sandpaper, and it would be nice to impregnate the tree with oil to protect it from moisture.
