The process of manufacturing a battery glue gun:
Step one. Heating element
We disassemble the body of the glue gun and remove the standard heating element, we do not need it. Next, we prepare the A1322 heater, the author breaks its body and bites off the blue wire, as a result, two red ones remain. We lengthen the wires, solder the joints and install heat shrink tubes.
Step Two Converter
To power the heating element, we do not have enough voltage of 8V, which is issued by two series-connected batteries. To increase the voltage, you need a DC-DC converter. We connect the converter to the battery, and the output to the voltmeter. By turning the adjusting screw we set the voltage to about 15V, and the heater will be powered by it.
After that, the module is installed in the handle, cutting off the lower part from it.We also cut a switch into the glue gun handle. The module can be glued with superglue or hot glue.
Step Three Battery pack
We make the battery pack, the 18650 batteries in the amount of two pieces will serve as the power source, the batteries are connected in series. To safely charge the batteries, it is imperative to use a BMS controller that will not allow deep discharge or recharging the batteries. The controller outputs must be connected to each battery separately, and not to series-connected batteries.
The junction box served as the housing for the battery pack. We cut holes in it under the socket for connecting the charger, and also drill a hole for the wires from the glue gun. In addition, we cut out a window in the case for a digital voltmeter, its conclusions are connected to the batteries. From the voltage it will be possible to conclude how badly the batteries are discharged.
We glue the BMS controller inside the case, solder the wires and install the batteries. Then you can screw on the housing cover. As a result, the glue gun handle sticks or bolts to the battery case.
