It is based on the relationship between sound waves and air (or gas) pressure. The experiment with the Rubens pipe is designed to demonstrate and explain that sound is a wave whose length depends on the frequency (notes) emitted by the players. Even schoolchildren know that sound is a wave phenomenon, and the experiment with this device acts as a proof of this. It works as follows. The perforated pipe is filled with combustible gas. At the ends of the pipe installed aperture. If you direct a sound source to the diaphragm, then a standing wave is formed within the pipe. Step One: Holes
For his homemade the craftsman used a ventilation pipe 10 cm in diameter and 150 cm long. On the pipe marks a distance of 105 cm.Cuts the pipe in a circle. Both halves will be needed in the future.
Cuts two pieces of plywood 90 centimeters long, and equal to the width of the unfolded pipe.

First you need to measure the middle of the sheet across (not plywood, but metal) and put marks on both sides. Then measure the center of the sheet. Now draw the axial and divide it into four equal segments. Marks points every 1.27 cm. Drills holes with a 1.5 mm drill. Between 1 and 2, 3 and 4 segments down 5.5 cm drills holes with a diameter of 6 mm.
Step Two: Pipe
Makes a pipe, as in the photo. Before installing the fittings in the tube, wrap the FUM tape on them.
Then unscrew the cap on the burner and drill the nozzle with a drill 1, 5 mm.
Cleans the installation location of the jets with a file. He puts a tube on the end of the burner, connects the other end of the tube to the pipe. Install the nozzles in the holes in the pipe.
For fixing uses epoxy putty.
Step Three: Pipe
Folds the pipe and fixes along the seam with tape. Adhesive tape along the ends of the pipe to the edge.
The ends of the pipe closes with plastic wrap.
Step Four: Stand
Now you need to do what the pipe will stand on. For supports, the master cuts out plates from the second piece of pipe, and bends them, as in the photo.
Next you need to install them.
Pulls a collar around a pipe and marks with a marker a line of a tightening of a collar.
Takes off a collar and equals with a mark with a cut line of a support. Draws a line, on the other hand.
Cleans the clamp with a file. From label to label it applies epoxy putty. Glues the support. Fixes with clamps.
The putty is dry and the clamps can be removed.

Step Five: Painting
Stain supports.
It paints the pipe with heat-resistant paint, having previously sealed the holes with tape.
Step Six: The Base
The master made the base from the board. Cut off the desired size, polished. Secured the pipe.
Everything is ready, it remains to connect the gas cylinder and ignite the burner. The master advises to close the burners with tape, fill the pipe with gas, and then remove the tape and light it. The gas is on, it remains to bring a sound reproducing device on one side and enjoy the fire-music-)))
