I welcome fans to craft, I propose to consider a home-made flashlight that works without a battery. The power source is a built-in generator that needs to be brought to work by muscular power. The lamp shines perfectly, but it does not light if the generator does not work, therefore, with such a lamp, the hands are always busy. As a refinement, a supercapacitor or a battery can be installed in the lamp so that the lamp is charged and shone for some time. Flashlight manufacturing process:
Step one. Assembly and test circuit
Let's assemble the circuit and check it, first we install a diode on the DC-DC converter, it is installed between the motor and the converter. The diode is designed to equalize the alternating voltage that the generator will generate.
We connect our 12V headlamp to the converter output. When the gearbox shaft rotates, the motor works as a generator, and the headlight starts to glow. But it remains unclear what voltage and current the headlight feeds if the generator can produce a variety of voltage, even more than 12V, depending on the speed.
Our converter increases the voltage, so it is probably necessary to twist the handle of the generator very slowly. But still it remains unclear why the headlight does not burn out.
Step Two Installing the headlamp in the housing
As a building, we need a piece of a plumbing pipe, we drill holes in it that will serve as ventilation. Install the headlight and fasten it with screws. We immediately connect the converter to the headlight, the author put a heat shrink pipe on it in order to protect it from dirt.
Step Three Generator Installation
On the other side of the flashlight we install the generator. We make cuts under the case and fasten the generator.Solder the wires and finally assemble the lamp housing. Now homemade almost ready, it remains only to make a pen.
We make a pen for the flashlight, here the author needed parts from the printer. We bend the axis, set the wheel from the printer as a handle. The homemade product is ready, in the dark the lantern shines quite brightly, and even a child can cope with it. If you add a battery to your homemade product, you get a completely convenient “eternal flashlight”.
