Who disassembled the music box, he knows that inside it is a drum with protruding pins and a metal comb. When the drum rotates, the pins bend the petals of the comb, and then they sharply straighten and make a sound. By adjusting the position of the pins and combs, they achieve the playback of a specific melody. The master-craftsman decided to make a musical gong using the technology used in the music box. All the parts for this device were selected from the old things and mechanisms that had fallen into disrepair. Let's watch a short video.

Step one: preparing the compressor tank
It cuts off the compressor mounting pad from the tank. Cuts the bottom of the tank along the seam. Grinds the surface of the future gong.
Step Two: Painting
Grunts and then paints the gong.
Step Three: Frame
Now you need to make a frame for hanging the gong. The frame is made in the shape of the letter P with the crossbars screwed to the lower part of the legs.
After making the frame, fixes the hook in the middle of the upper crossbar. A wire is attached to the hook. A gong is attached at the other end of the wire.
Step Four: Bed
Parses an old bed. It has metal corners, which will be needed in the future.
Step Five: The Mechanism
Then the master makes the percussion mechanism. Inside the frame, a pipe with pins and a rod with hammers will be installed. For free rotation, it installs bearings at the ends of the pipe and rod, which the master removed from the board of the old computer mouse.
Step Six: Hammers
Hammers are made of oak planks. The master cut them into the desired shape and polished them.
Seventh step: drum axis
The axis of the drum is made of a metal rod with bearings mounted on both sides.To install the drum on the axis, the master made two nylon bushings.
Step Eight: Gears
To transmit rotational motion, the master uses two gears and a welded metal handle.
The gear on the shaft is mounted using an aluminum sleeve fixed to the shaft.
Step Nine: Build
Before assembly, it is necessary to weld short rods to the drum. Then everything is going. Hammers are mounted on an axis opposite the welded rods. To return them to their original position, a spring is attached to each of them. The mechanism is attached to the frame, so that the hammers knock on the gong. Fastens the handle block with gear. At the ends of the hammers, to distinguish the tone of the sound, small stones, metal balls, rags, etc., fix various objects.
The musical gong is ready.
