The room in which the climbing wall was built is a common room for a residential community of one hundred and fifty people. It was necessary to have something functional, varied, and pleasant in appearance, since this room is also used for yoga, and those who practice yoga did not very well accept the idea of a climbing wall with a typical design, a white wall, which would eventually get dirty on she would have been visible footprints from shoes. That is why it was decided to make a climbing wall out of wood.
Another reason wooden hooks were used was that you can climb barefoot without shoes. Thus, both children and adults can use the wall without the need for additional sneakers.
So, first you need to choose a place to install the wall. There must be a place for laying mats in front of the wall. For a better understanding of the upcoming work, you can make a layout.
To use various hooks and to change them, you need to drill a lot of holes in the wall and fix it on the back of the nut. Bolts are mounted on hooks. There should be enough space behind the walls for the protruding parts of the bolts.
As a basis for the wall, you need to take not cheap OSB, but thick plywood, for example, 21 mm birch plywood.
There are two types of walls: straight and sloping. The slope is more interesting, but more difficult to build.
This wall is constructed in the following way.
The wall consists of straight side walls and a straight bottom. Four elements are fixed on top, each of which has its own profile with different angles. (for example, the lower part with 10 degrees and the upper part with 20 degrees). These elements can be interchanged, so in total the wall has 24 positions. Additionally, the wall is divided into segments of panels 1 * 1 m. Which can also be interchanged.
Another advantage is that parts of the wall can be easily replaced if it is damaged (or the T-nut is loose), and the structure behind panels can be easily reached.
First, a frame made of timber was built. Then the segments are cut. According to the pattern, holes were drilled in all segments and nuts were fixed.
Then additional elements were made.
Hooks made of plywood. They are just cut and sanded. If necessary, you can glue several pieces of plywood.
Now it remains to assemble the wall and the climbing wall is ready.
