My very first extension cord was assembled in the garage still in the middle of the zero, and I still use it, have never broken down and failed. Of course, when using it, I unwind the entire length.
Everyone who used it, fucked up and said that awesome adapt. A couple of people wanted me to make the same extensions, but they didn’t give them broken vacuum cleaners for making them))) Unfortunately, they aren’t made out of air and I didn’t find broken vacuum cleaners. But a lot of years passed and the vacuum cleaners still began to appear, of course broken. Before shooting, my friend and I opened them for troubleshooting. One has a broken engine seat; the second has an impeller rotated on the engine shaft. Of course, I didn’t try to repair it, because in the first case the guides for the engine were broken, and it was very weak (plus drugan expressed a desire to pick up the engine assembly with a turbine), and in the second case the impeller was actually turned on the shaft, and it can be clearly seen once again it started like this, because the hole was greatly flared and the shaft could no longer be clamped and sealed to the impeller, and even if it had succeeded, it would have already hit hard. It was decided to recall youth and quickly make prefabricated extension cords from both vacuum cleaners.
And so the first quickly assembled extension cord from a vacuum cleaner with a torn motor)

Well, at the same time I will offer to watch a video with a selection of my life hacks for the garage, not for PR or views, but because it is in it that I am talking about the first extension cord that I collected for a very long time, and still it works and makes me happy at work) In the video, this extension cord comes first by the way, for one minute of viewing you will immediately understand what it is for and how convenient it is.
You could start the article with this video, but it’s not about homemade, but just about comfortable fixtures for the garage, so I considered it not specific in terms of homemade products.
By the way, given the questions from the comments, I’ll answer in advance that I cut the plastic with nichrome wire from the heater (I don’t remember whether this information is in the video or not). And a little more gag, recently (a week ago, it seems), Dr. Dew on YouTube released a video where he crap the author of the same extension cord. IMHO not deservedly.
I suppose I suppose and did not know that there are such extension cords on sale, I never searched and were not needed. And the vacuum cleaner is still malfunctioning, just stupidly throw it in the trash, I consider it a luxury. 5 meters of an excellent cable can be simply thrown away, but do not care that everything costs a penny, and friends do that in order to make something useful out of a broken one. And according to Dr. Dew, it turns out that since you have a shurik for 16k, a Bulgarian for 6k, then you should buy an extension cord for 3k. Continuing Dew’s thought, and to interpret it a little, once in the store there is a bench at the cottage for 10 tr. why the fuck you for 16t.r. and a jigsaw for 4t.r. to build a bench, buy it ready. What for then generally do something, it's easier to buy. So chtoli turns out in his opinion. I think any homemade product has the right to life if it is useful, or it has some kind of aesthetics.
