The author took a mechanism as a basis for a future device, which is a self-timer in the Zenith film camera. Initially, the manufacturer declared the duration of the self-timer to be 15 seconds, but at the end the spring was already quite deformed and stretched, and accordingly became much weaker. Therefore, in this case, specifically this mechanism will work about half of the originally declared time, at the 8th second.
I think everyone has ever had to use public transport. And many probably noticed a special place in the cabin where a small hammer for emergency breaking glass hangs (or should hang). It is necessary if a serious accident has suddenly occurred and evacuation for one reason or another through the doors will be impossible. The author admits that fortunately in such a situation he was never able to, but one can only imagine how unpleasant it is to break a sufficiently strong glass with a rather small hammer, and even a rather large one, right in front of it. So, having spent a little time and rummaged around the expanses of the World Wide Web, the author managed to find, in his opinion, a more convenient option on the widely known Chinese trading platform Aliexpress.
With this keychain, in an emergency, you can cut the belts, as well as break the glass. But since the author is an amateur of various kinds of mechanisms, he wondered why such a hammer cannot be made automatic.
So let's get started. First, we will manufacture the percussion mechanism.
The tip will be from a carbide from some broken incisor.
Since it turned out to be too long for today's home-made, we break it again. We need a small part of it.
We will solder using solid solder so that nothing will fall off from the shock loads and not break.
The finished tip needs to be sharpened with a small diamond blade.
At this stage, we got such a tool, which, by the way, can still be tried as a core for metal.
Next, you need to drill a hole for the pin, which will not allow the shock head to fly out of the tool.
And thus the moving part will have a course strictly within the designated boundaries.
In the case of our mechanism, it is necessary to cut a thread, or rather not one, but two whole threads. One thread will be internal and the other external.
Under the internal thread with the help of a lathe, it is necessary to make another part, in which a powerful spring will abut.
Then, in the center, it is necessary to drill a hole for the tensioner rod and screw the resulting part into the body of the future device.
Now you need to pick up the spring. The spring is needed quite powerful. The author decided to use a spring from an automatic core, which until recently he had and remarkably coped with his direct mission, but unfortunately, he broke down, in simple terms - he broke down.
Next, we will manufacture a specific nut that will compress the spring.
Of course, it could have been made easier, but the author does not look for easy ways, as they say: the easy way is not our way.
Now let's drill holes. Let the product look more solid.
Next stage - manufacture of stock. We will make it from the usual long bolt. We simply cut off the unnecessary part of the thread with the cap.
Also, in the resulting stock, it is necessary to make such a depression under the screwdriver.
Next, we take a sheet of metal, a diamond needle and draw a contour of the tripod.
Then you need to drill 3 holes to fix the legs and one in the center to connect to the body.
For cutting metal, the author uses just such a “hellish" machine, but admits that she still needs to learn how to cut.

Further painting. The author decided to use powder paint, since he likes it, it’s literally 10 minutes in the oven and the paint is completely dry and the product can already be used.
Now we make a pair of nuts for fixing the tripod. One will be simply round for an emphasis, and the second will be turnkey hexagon.
Also, especially for this homemade product, the author bought in the store this unusual phone holder with small suction cups, we will use them for fastening our mechanical hammer.
So in this way, thanks to the suction cups, the product can be fixed without any difficulty quite quickly, in almost any position and on almost any flat surface.
Next, you need to make a cut in the body and in the percussion mechanism. Propyl is needed to fix the mechanism in the cocked position.
Now saw off a piece of the camera along with the shutter release button.
Color the resulting part, thereby giving it a more aesthetic appearance.
Next, take a strip of small brass and make the base for the shutter out of it.
We fasten the part to each other with the help of solder.
The strength of the solder is enough for reliable fixation.
Then from a metal bar with a diameter of 4 mm we make 3 bases for a mechanical timer.
We solder everything together. We grind the place of soldering, thereby increasing the area of contact between the two parts.
Further, from an ordinary clerical knife (or rather, from a blade for it), it is necessary to make a kind of trigger.
All the parts are ready, you can start assembling.
If you take a larger diameter suction cup, then such a device will hold even tighter, so the recoil will be less and the impact will be stronger.
If you ask yourself: is such a mechanism necessary? Then there is no definite answer, but in due time, airbags were considered unnecessary. The author was just interested to make such an unusual device purely as an experiment and share the result of his work with others.
By the way, Zenit resumed production of cameras, now it is a digital camera. Of course, the price is very surprising, maybe there are some kind of super-space nanotechnology, but of course, in such devices, the picture is most important, and if it is adequate to the price, then there will always be a buyer. In the meantime, part of the Zenith will live its life in such an apparatus.
The essence of this device is as follows: it is necessary to cock the spring, set the timer, set the trigger to the initial position and remove the nut. Then we fix our device on a flat surface and press the trigger.
After 8 seconds (approximately), a trip occurs. During this time, you can safely retreat to a safe distance, because glass, as a rule, flies not where you want. In this case, for the experiment, the author uses glass 4 mm thick.
