Gasoline generator from hoverboard and trimmer

Homemade work will allow you to recharge your mobile phone, laptop and other equipment. As a basis, the author used a gasoline four-stroke engine from a trimmer, as well as a motor-wheel from. If desired, a make-up inverter can be connected to the homemade product to obtain a voltage of 220V. Homemade assembly is quite simple, and its design is quite reliable. Homemade manufacturing process:

Step one. Generator Preparation
First of all, we need to prepare an electric generator, its role in this matter is played by the motor-wheel from. We disassemble the old one and remove the wheel from it. Next, we need to disassemble the wheel itself, remove the axis from it along with the core.

















Now we need to install an asterisk from a moped or the like on a motor-wheel disk, the author has an asterisk with 55 teeth. A small diameter sprocket is mounted on the trimmer shaft, as a result, the huge revolutions of the gasoline engine are reduced, and the torque on the generator increases.

To attach the sprockets, we carefully mark everything out and drill holes for the screws, then we will need to cut the thread. To fix the sprocket at a certain distance from the wheel, the author puts nuts under the sprocket. We turn the screws and, on the other hand, tighten everything with nuts for reliability. We must not allow the nuts to loosen, so we put them on glue, sealant, use Grover washers, and so on. That's all, when the sprocket is installed, the wheel remains to be reassembled, it is no longer necessary to put the tire back. We also need to remove the Hall sensor from the engine, we will not need it.

Step Two Trimmer
Next, we will prepare the engine from the trimmer, in our case it is four-stroke, these are more modern engines and they are beginning to be introduced more widely.You can feed such a motor with clean gasoline, without oil, the oil is in the crankcase. The advantage of such a motor in higher efficiency, they are more economical than two-stroke, and also do not form as much smoke as two-stroke.

A drive sprocket must be installed on the motor shaft, the sprocket is engaged using a centrifugal clutch.




Step Three Frame
We make a frame on which we install all the components. The author makes the basis of profile pipes and sheet iron. It is highly desirable that there was the opportunity to pull the chain, the author throws it on the video quite strongly. The chain should be made as short as possible, and it is best to use a belt drive for such a device, it is safer. Securely fasten everything with screws and nuts.
















Step Four Electronics
Depending on your needs, you can equip the generator with a rectifier or inverter. Most likely, you will need a converter that allows you to receive 5V output for charging mobile equipment, or 220V. The author solders the desired circuit himself and installs the board on the base, we connect the wiring and now the generator is almost ready.



In conclusion, we need to install a gas tank, its author located at the bottom of the homemade product, you have to turn the generator over to refuel. Of course, all this is inconvenient, the gas tank should be larger in volume and there should be convenient access to the neck. As fuel, fill in gasoline without oil with an octane rating of at least AI-92.

We start the engine, with the help of the idle screw we set the necessary speed. The higher the revolutions, the greater the voltage and current will be generated by the generator. But do not forget that too high speeds are a risk of overheating and increased fuel consumption. It is extremely important to choose the right gear ratio, then the generator will work economically.
