Epoxy keychain.
I already spoke about the resulting similar crafts in an article "Epoxy Jewelry". But the first versions of the work were far from those results. Having gained invaluable experience, I still learned how to correctly use the method with epoxy resin. But what mistakes I made at the beginning of the manufacture of crafts, I will now tell. So I picked up the frame - instead of the wire, I divided in half the old handle from the cabinet.
I applied strips of adhesive tape to the surface, and then laid out on it a frame and a flower with a leaf, which I “borrowed” from my mother in a flowerpot. Epoxy glue was purchased exactly the same as that used in the original article.
Error No. 1 Too big frame and a small amount of glue.
There was only enough glue to fill the first layer (and even not completely) in the right corner there were empty spaces. In addition, epoxy smells rather unpleasant. And you need to wash it off from your hands right away, otherwise you won’t wipe it off completely.
Error No. 2 Poor preparation for kneading.
I took a small bowl (if you can call it that at all) and an uncomfortable (short) scoop for stirring. 1/3 of the mixture remained on the scoop, on the outside of the jar and on the fingers.
Here is the result. In general, it’s not so bad, but there is a question: do 2 halves of the frame adhere firmly? After all, not a whole form was used. But the craft can still be saved - the other day I’m going to the store for new 2 packs of glue. I hope that this product will move from an article about errors and failures into sections for my finished work.
A flash drive in a wooden frame.
Great idea in the article. “A wooden case for a do-it-yourself flash drive” inspired me to create my brainchild. I really wanted to quickly become the owner of the author's flash drive, made, moreover, with my own hands.
Error No. 1 Inadequate preparation of materials and tools.
Of the materials I had a tablet. But, as it turned out later, it was just pressed sawdust of good quality. And from tools only a knife and a file. Naturally, to get a good result in this situation is quite difficult.
Error No. 2 Inaccuracy of sizing.
I took up work too quickly and figured out “by eye” the dimensions of the flash drive and the workpiece that I had to cut. As a result, I had to cut out part of the frame several times.
Error No. 3 Rush.
Making home-made products requires precision and diligence, but not in a hurry. Here is one inaccurate movement with a knife and the workpiece splits into two halves. But the conclusions are made, the necessary material and tools are known - I will try again. What I will definitely tell you in my works.
