Homemade mushroom dryer. 1 version of the dryer
Going on a warm summer day to climb mushrooms is an amazing pastime. Someone goes to already familiar, pre-checked, mushroom places, while someone constantly visits different clearings and scaffolds. But each mushroom picker, coming home, solves the same problem - what to do with the collected treasures. Fry, salt, freeze - all this can be done, but to dry mushrooms you need a special device. Such a design can be made do it yourselfhaving minimal skills in working with tools and wood.
To make a solar mushroom dryer you will need a set of tools (saw, hammer, self-tapping screws, nails, screwdriver), metal mesh, angles and bars, 50x50mm in size. The principle of its work is the evaporation of moisture from mushrooms under the influence of solar heat and wind.
The figures show all the sizes by which you must make the bars of the desired length. You can connect them together in two ways: nails or self-tapping screws. It all depends on what you have available. True, a structure assembled using self-tapping screws will then be easier to disassemble. To protect against sunlight, the wood can be protected by gluing the structure to the outside with plastic wrap. Those. All side and rear walls, the cover and the hinged door must be protected in this way if you want the dryer to serve you for a long time.
Particular attention should be paid to installing the bottom of the dryer. It must be tightened with a plastic or metal mesh, on which the collected mushrooms will then be laid. Around the perimeter, the bottom must be flanged with thin plywood, and the upper part of the side walls covered with gauze. This is necessary in order to protect the forest harvest from numerous insects, which are likely to gather to feast on your mushrooms.
Mushrooms can be dried in other ways, for example, stringing them on a string. Let me remind you that for drying you need to choose only the strongest mushrooms. In a self-made dryer, you can dry not only mushrooms, but also other vegetables or even fruits.
