At some point, it was decided to fence off this zone from the common courtyard area and establish a decorative fence here.
Without wasting time, the author visited a hardware store and bought there 5 meters of such a decorative fence.
According to the seller, this is a fence of willow branches. As soon as the day was free from work, the author proceeded to install a decorative fence. For the fence, metal posts 240 cm long will be used.
90 centimeters of them will be buried in the ground, this part was pre-treated with bitumen mastic. The remaining 150 cm of the pillar will rise on the surface of the site and, accordingly, a decorative canvas made of willow twigs will be attached to them.
First, it was necessary to determine the exact location of the fence.
We decided on the place. Where pillars will subsequently be installed, small pegs are driven into the ground at a certain distance. The author will make holes for the posts with a garden drill.
The diameter of the screw of this drill is 130 mm, which is enough to install the posts, since their diameter is more than 2 times smaller than the diameter of the screw of the drill and is 50 mm.
The remaining gap between the table and the ground must be covered with small gravel and rammed with a crowbar or other suitable tool for this purpose. Concrete pillars under a decorative fence is not necessary.
In order to perfectly install all the pillars, we need a building level. The first hole is drilled. We install a pillar and fill the entire hole with small gravel, not forgetting to carefully ram it with a crowbar. The more carefully you stamp the gravel with a crowbar, the stronger the pole will stand.
So, the first pillar is installed. He stands vertically straight.
Next, in exactly the same way, we install the remaining columns for the future fence. And in order to align the pillars at the same height, the author uses such a simple devicecalled the hydraulic level. The hydraulic level consists of 2 transparent vessels, interconnected using a small capillary (hose). This is how it looks:
To align the posts in height, we fix one flask on the post using an ordinary wire, making it completely motionless.
We fix the second flask on another pillar also using wire.
For example, raising one of the pillars up or lowering it down, we ensure that the liquid is near the top of one column and near the top of the other column.
If the liquid level coincides with the tops of both columns, this means that these columns are on the same level. Having aligned the pole in this way in height, we fix it using wooden pegs, and then again we fill up the gravel and the whole thing is thoroughly tamped.
When installing the third pillar, so that it stands in line with the two already installed, pull the lace between the extreme posts. The third pillar must be installed so that it touches the lace, but does not bend the straight line indicated by it.
In such a simple way, all three of our pillars will be located on one line.
For a 5-meter fence, it was necessary to install another pillar:
Further, the author moved to the workshop, where he will make wooden veins. For veins, he will use pine blocks 50x50 mm in size.
The bars must be cut so that their length is equal to the distance between the posts. Then it will be necessary to work a little with a planer and paint the resulting workpiece.
The author decided to cover the wooden veins with decorative varnish.
After the workpieces are completely dry, you can screw them to the posts. To do this, special eyes are welded on the poles, and we will fasten the newly made veins to them. The author uses yellow self-tapping screws as fasteners, since they are much stronger than black ones.
The veins are screwed. The author screwed the extreme crossbar, but he did not cut it off yet. First, it is necessary to stretch the decorative fence, fix it, and only then, in the size of the fence, it will be possible to saw off the protruding part of the bar.
