Probably each of you likes to relax in the fresh air, and at the same time there is a desire to have a meal or arrange barbecue. But the terrestrial location of the products on the tablecloth is not very convenient, in addition, ants and other insects can smell.
In this article, Aleksey, the author of the Aleksey Leontev Workshop YouTube channel, will tell you how he made a small folding table. It is very light, and very quickly disassembled and assembled.
This homemade product is quite simple to manufacture, and materials can easily be found in a hardware store.
The dimensions of the table are 400X350 mm, and its height is 700 mm.

Manufacturing process.
Unfortunately, the author did not describe the process of creating one of the details of the table. It is welded from a trimmed steel pipe, steel plate and a piece of sharpened reinforcement.
The master begins by cutting a workpiece with dimensions of 400 X 350 mm from laminated sheet plywood.
Then begins the marking of the first part, it will be a kind of lock.
In the same drawing marks future locations for drilling. Self-tapping screws will be screwed here.
Drills and countersinks all holes.
Now marks the second part, it will be a latch.
It cuts the workpiece for the latch, drills and countersink holes.
Screws the first workpiece to the flange with screws. Only this he does from the back of the part.
Having installed the workpiece on the machine, grinds the edge of the part, and marks the inner circle.
Now, starting from the center removes excess material. And the inner edge forms at a slight angle, about 25 degrees.
It turns out this kind of blank.
Then he grinds the blank of the latch, checking the angle of inclination and the size with the inner diameter of the first part.
When both parts are perfectly fitted, it will be possible to continue.
Marks the necessary places for cutting.
Removes excess parts from both workpieces with a band saw.
The next step is to grind the table leg. Alex will use a wooden block. At the bottom, he formed a narrowing for the rack, and at the top left a little more material for attaching the latch.
Now puts the lock to the center of the countertop, marks and drills the pilot holes. Then it fastens the lock to the countertop with short wood screws. It is important not to pierce it through.
How does the castle work? Everything is very simple. The latch is inserted sideways into the lock, so it comes in freely. But if you crank it in it, everything is securely fixed.
The author drilled pilot holes in the upper part of the leg, and screwed the latch to it.
The master also advises between the latch and the bottom of the countertop to make a thin rubber gasket. This will help eliminate possible play. In addition, it is advisable to make a lock against accidental rotation of the countertop, and unlock the lock.
So, all the details are ready, a trial installation of the nozzle with a pin. You can do without the nozzle, just sharpening the leg at the end.
The finishing touch, impregnating the rack with linseed oil.
So, setting the table!
The table turned out to be very compact and light. This idea can be further developed by connecting two countertops with furniture hinges, and installing a lock on each and making a pair of legs. Then the stability of the structure will be higher, and more people will fit behind it.
And if you make a leg of small length, then such a table can be installed near a sunbed, or rug.
And one more small point - the lock and latch can be made without a lathe, this can be done using a hand milling cutter and a circular nozzle.
