Greetings to outdoor enthusiasts, today we will look at how to make a grill with an automatic rotation function. The author made the hearth directly from the drum from the washing machine, and the turning mechanism was made of bicycle parts and a motor from the car wipers. Supply homemade it’s possible from a 12V battery, so if you go to rest on car, then you can feed the whole thing from the cigarette lighter. If necessary, you can set the speed control, but the skewer is spinning quite slowly. If you are interested in homemade work, I propose to study the project in more detail!
Materials and tools used by the author:
Material List:
- ;
- a carriage with an asterisk from the bicycle;
- a piece of pipe for a skewer;
- bearing with a cage;
- profile pipes for legs;
- a drum from the washing machine.
Tool List:
- grinder;
- welding machine;
- Miter saw;
- tape measure, marker;
- drill;
- paint for metal;
- a vise.
Homemade manufacturing process:
Step one. Gearbox
The first thing you need to do is a gearbox through which the torque from the engine will be transmitted to the skewer. As such a reducer, a bicycle carriage and a front drive sprocket are used. The author simply cut out a part of the bicycle frame and welded fasteners to it for installing a motor. A piece of chain is welded to the motor shaft, as a result, the resulting “sprocket” twists a large bicycle sprocket. Turnovers are significantly reduced, a large torque is obtained, all that is needed for the grill to work. We clean the parts with a brush for metal so that dirt does not pour in.
Step Two Legs
We will make legs for homemade work, in total 4 pieces will be needed and we will have removable legs. We make legs from a thin profile pipe, we also make clamps for legs from a larger profile pipe. We drill holes in the pieces of the profile pipes, weld the nuts, now the legs can be fixed by screwing the bolt.
Two clamps are welded to the bicycle carriage, and two more clamps must be welded at an angle to the cage with the bearing.
Step Three Skewer
We make a skewer, for such purposes we need a piece of pipe, it is advisable to use stainless steel or aluminum. In the axis of the carriage, we drill a hole, we also drill a hole at the end of the pipe. Now we connect the pipe to the axis using a screw with a nut. Now the design is ready, you can assemble everything and turn on the motor as an experiment.
Step Four Painting
We clean the iron parts and paint from the spray can. Now everything will look great with us, the iron will not rust, and even such surfaces can be washed perfectly.
Step Five Hearth
We make a hearth, for these purposes the author used a drum from a washing machine. Just cut off the upper part and clean the sharp edges so as not to cut yourself. If desired, legs can be welded to the drum so that it does not swing or stand on the ground.
Step Six Assembly and testing
Homemade products can be assembled, install the motor, fasten it with screws. We pour coal into the hearth and kindle. While the fire flares up, we attach roosters to the skewers, they are pressed by the author to the pipe with a special plate.
That's all, start the engine, and our barbecue slowly rotates over the coals. The meat turned out to be fried quite high quality, it turned out soft with a golden crust. This is the end of the project, I hope you liked the homemade work, and you found useful thoughts for yourself. Good luck and creative inspiration, if you decide to repeat this.
