Organizer with sharpening stone and solar panel for storing and sharpening knives

A great idea was invented and implemented by the Master. The holder of knives with the built-in driven grindstone. Moreover, the grindstone is mounted on the motor shaft, which runs on battery power. The battery is not charged from the network, but from the solar panel built into the organizer. Of course, it will not work to sharpen knives, but it is quite possible to correct.

Tools and materials:
-Battery 18650;
- TP4056 charge controller;
-Power button;
-Motor;
-Battery holder;
-Glue gun;
-Soldering iron;
-The wire;
-Grindstone;
-3 packets of spaghetti;
-Fasteners;
-Screwdriver;
-3D printer;

Step One: Project, 3D Printing
The basic design of the knife block is a curved cuboid with a removable cover and a place for the solar panel in front. There are slots for knives on the lid. To find out how big the block should be and how wide the grooves for the knives will be, the master measured the knives that will be stored in the organizer.

To power the engine, it was decided to use a solar panel to maintain a wireless design, and get rid of the hassle of recharging batteries.

Electronics pretty simple. For power, you will need one rechargeable battery - preferably 18650 lithium-ion. To charge it, you need a solar panel. In this case, 5 V, 500 mA, but you can use another. You will also need a battery protection circuit and something to insert the battery.

All this will be controlled by a simple button, which is located at the top of the knife block. To work with the sharpener, you must press the button. This is a good safety mechanism because it means that the sharpener will stop turning as soon as the button is released. A whetstone is mounted on the motor shaft.

To make the case, the master shared files for 3D printing.

Step Two: Installation
First, the master makes electrical installation. Solder the wires to the solar panel, and then to the controller.The wires from the battery holder are soldered to the charge controller. Connects the engine. In the gap of the wire going to the engine, the power button is soldered.

Step Three: Build
Now you need to install everything in the case. There are two compartments in the casing, the smaller for electrical parts, and the larger for knife blades. The master secures the motor to the housing. Fastens the holder with the battery and the controller inside the case. The power button is attached to the organizer cover. Now you need to glue the solar panel.

Next, the master, clogs the larger compartment of the organizer case with spaghetti straws. This will give stability to the holder and the knives will not dangle inside.

Now you need to install the top cover and place the knives in their intended places.
The organizer for knives is ready. In more detail with the manufacturing process of such fixtures You can familiarize yourself by watching the video.

There sparkle stars when trying to sharpen, it seems, overhead. )))

I agree, but an attempt to sharpen a knife on a video is not so hot.
Girl - Respect for the work of hands. )))
She solders more accurately than a typical Indian, only for some reason the soldering station is on her left.
And where is the circuit breaker on the circuit? )))
