DIY wooden hammer

I welcome all fans to craft, today we will consider how to make a wooden hammer do it yourself. With such a hammer, it is possible to level sheet metal without damaging it, and even in the household homemade will not be superfluous. For example, the author crushes apples with a hammer and feeds chickens. In the assembly, homemade is simple, a piece of log is used as the basis. Of course, the author also by forging made rings that strengthened the hammer, but they can also be made with simpler tools. If the project interests you and you need such a hammer, I propose to study it in more detail!

Materials and tools used by the author:

Material List:
- a piece of log of suitable diameter;
- a bar or a thick board for the handle;
- iron plates or rods for rings;
- oil for wood;
- carpentry glue.

Tool List:
- brace;
- a hacksaw;
- drill with a large diameter drill pen;
- blacksmith tools;
- welding machine;
- vise;
- files;
- grinder;
- belt sander (optional).

Hammer manufacturing process:

Step one. Hammer making
We will make the main part of the hammer, for this we need a log of suitable thickness. We cut the log and arm ourselves with a braid. We need to remove the bark, as well as trim the log. At the end, we arm ourselves with a pen drill and drill a hole in the center. We make the diameter of the hole for the thickness of the handle, it is better to make the handle thicker so that it can withstand a large load.

Step Two Rings
The author decided to make rings for the hammer by an ancient technique - by forging, as a material we need iron plates or rods. Slowly bend the plates into rings and adjust the joints to each other. In the end, having received the desired diameter, the author welds the rings into a single whole. After welding, we carefully grind the welds, especially for the inside, here you will have to work with a file. And outside you can grind the seams on a grinder or grinder.

If you want a beautiful black coating on the rings, you will need linseed oil and natural fabric.We heat the rings and process them with linseed oil. Such a coating looks good, and it will protect the metal from rust. Now the rings can be mounted on a hammer.

Step Three A pen
We make a handle for the hammer, for this you can use a bar or even a chipped part of the log. We work with a staple, we form the desired profile of the handle. It would be good to use maple or another solid wood species as wood.

At the end of the handle, which will be inserted into the hammer, you need to make a cut under the wedge. As for the wedge, we make it from oak or other dense wood.

Step Four Assembly and finishing touches
The hammer can be assembled, the wedge is hammered with wood glue, it is better not to stick the handle to the hammer, otherwise it will be very difficult to replace it later.

When the hammer is ready, all of it must be well soaked in oil, the oil must be poured as much as the wood absorbs, then the tree will be well protected from moisture.

That's all, the homemade product is ready, it looks gorgeous, for household purposes such a hammer will be useful. That's all, I hope you liked the project, and you found useful thoughts for yourself. Good luck and creative inspiration, if you decide to repeat this, do not forget to share your ideas and homemade things with us!
