Repair of switching power supplies has its own characteristics. One of them is that it is not always possible to identify all defective parts. And then, when turned on after repair, the PSU usually fails completely. Fuse rarely helps out.

There is a proven way to avoid trouble. I have assembled and have been using a simple installation for repairing pulse power supplies for a long time. It protects the elements of the block from burning out during the incomplete replacement of all defective parts and shows the operability of the block.

The installation consists of the following main elements.
Two mains plugs with unusable cords, an old cartridge with a 230 V 60 W bulb, E27 socket, socket, parquet board, electrical tape and fasteners.

I mounted all this according to the given diagram. A general view is shown in the photographs.

The principle of operation of the installation is as follows.
The tested power supply is plugged into the outlet of the installation, after which the input plug of the installation is briefly connected to the 220 V.
If the bulb flashes briefly and then burns to the floor or does not light at all, you can try to turn on the unit directly.

If the lamp is lit completely - immediately disconnect from the network. This indicates that the unit is not working properly, not all defective elements are replaced. The bulb in this case plays the role of a current limiter, not allowing the main elements of the power supply to fail - a diode bridge, a powerful high-voltage transistor, and others.

The second plug - a jumper is needed to check the operation of the installation, in this case it is plugged into the outlet of the installation. The lamp should light up completely. This is also necessary when the installation checks the bulbs with the E27 base. Currently, there are many types of lamps (for example, LED) that the tester does not ring. For certain reasons, a short-circuited plug is an integral part of the device and is wound with electrical tape.

Installation never let me down. The only thing to keep in mind is that a significant load should not be connected to the power supply at the time of such a check, otherwise the lamp will start to flash or burn almost completely.

It took me about an hour to assemble the unit, and over the course of a month, it helped me repair an automatic washing machine, monitor, and laptop charger.

I positioned the magnet in such a way that I created many closed magnetic circuits simultaneously. The main ones. Through the magnetic coupling of the metering device. Through the magnet of the impeller of the converter. Through the "anti-magnetic" counter case. Understand why the magnet does not require fixing on the counter? He "stuck" to him. An induction of 40 mT or a magnet with a lifting force of 200 - 250 N. It is good that I did not read this passport before the beginning of my research work "On the influence of a magnetic field on water meters." And I would be afraid that I would not overpower the defense. I want to note that in the factory documentation I found a jamb. They write that magnets are installed in the counting mechanism in the magnetic clutch. I affirm that it is not magnets, but a multipolar magnet. I showed a photo of the disassembled counting mechanism. Again, they write that there are magnets in the impeller in the converter. And I again argue that there is a multi-pole magnet.They make, but do not know, how to correctly name a magnet. Having dealt with the counting mechanism, I moved on to the converter. This is the second sealed part of the meter, where the movement of the water flow is converted into the movement of the magnetic field.
The counter written off, 2002, stood on hot water. Therefore, I could not unscrew the converter cover, I had to burn plastic with a powerful soldering iron and drill it with a drill. Partially damaged the impeller. But this will in no way affect my future work. Now I am investigating the antimagnetic properties of the converter housing. This is a very important stage of my work.
