Hello everybody
Recently I saw such a knife on the Internet and decided to make it myself, walked on the network, found the name Cuyabrik, it sounds strange. I looked at the species, chose the simplest one in my opinion and proceeded. At first I wanted to make a reinforcement according to the advice of the masters on the forum, then I got a drill for phrasing, I don’t know what it says on it is steel 60x13.
I wandered around the network, read that the steel seems to be strong, wear-resistant and does not rust. I checked the spark on the working head better than steel on the body of the drill. I think it will turn out to stretch the metal over the entire blade. And so here is the drill for the knife.
We will need a tool
- Bulgarian
- Horn
- Metal brush
- abrasive
- Felt circle and goy paste
- Metal for a knife
I heat it and let it cool in air to soften the metal. I heat to scarlet and forge forming a blade
I leave the blade and proceed to the handle. I draw forming a square
After molding, I heat by stepping back 12 cm from the blade. He quickly clamps it in a vice and scrolls three turns.
Then I heat the tip and bend it, now I bend the handle in the right place.
I deformed the blade to the end. I go on hot with a clear metal.
Well, that's all with fire. Starting to grind, I noticed that the blade was half of a different metal, I could not stretch the metal from the slave part to the entire blade. I polished with different papers, this metal is not polished with stones, but I have not yet tempered it. After a little torment, he nevertheless finished grinding, and proceeded to hardening.
Quenching.
Quenching from 1060-1085 ° C + Cold treatment at minus 70-80 ° C (holding time 1 hour) + Tempering at 400-420 ° C (holding time 5 hours), air cooling. After quenching, they ate as they took off the color.
When grinding the knife at the end of the spark does not fly at all, and the second half is already ferberite. Yes, and not taken with fine sandpaper at all. But unusual looks pretty even.
He removed the big risks, started polishing the goy with a paste, and after half an hour he threw this thing away, he decided to leave it like that.
Here is the pen
Well, that's all the knife is ready, someday there will be time polishing to the end. Yes, I suffered with him.
Thank you all and to new Homemade Friends.
