I am sure many of you have aquariums at home.
In this article, the author of The Q channel YouTube proposes a project to create an additional water reservoir that protrudes above the surface of the aquarium, as if it were suspended in a vacuum.
Fish can swim in it above normal water levels.
This homemade product is very easy to manufacture, and practically does not require tools.
Materials
- Glass vase
- Two foam blocks
- A piece of foam
—
- Reinforced tape.
Manufacturing process.
Probably, many of the readers are familiar with such a physical effect when, due to low pressure, water penetrates into a closed chamber in spite of the action of gravity. The reduced pressure in the chamber literally pushes water there. In this case, the water does not pour out until the air enters the chamber again.
To make support for the "floating" tank, the author puts two clean, sterilized foam blocks inside the aquarium. To do this, they need to be boiled in clean water, it is also recommended to use means for sterilizing aquariums.
They should be set as even and stable as possible so that they do not accidentally fail.
As the tank itself for fish, the author uses a large cylindrical glass vase.
To the bottom of the vase, he attaches one end of the silicone tube using reinforced tape. The other end remains freely hanging over the edge of the glass.
Using this tube, the author will pump air out of the tank. The vase is mounted on the supports, and the tube is released out.
By pumping air out of the vessel for several breathing movements, you will notice how the water level in the resulting glass flask begins to rise, while the water level in the aquarium will fall steadily. It is very important to prevent it from falling below the edges of the vase, otherwise the air will go inside. To avoid this situation, add water to the main tank.
When the waterline reaches the edges of a new pond, the pipe can be neatly detached.
This is such an aquarium, now it can be designed.
In additional space, you can spread the stalks of algae. Of course, some time will pass before the new territory will be developed by the inhabitants of the reservoir.
To clean or change the water in this section of the aquarium, you just need to thread the end of the silicone tube through a piece of foam and run it under a glass dome. The foam will raise the edge of the tube to the surface, after which it will be possible to slowly start the air under the dome. When you replace all the water, the procedure for filling the dome with water is repeated again.
New inhabitants have already populated the territory of the dome. Another little tip. Do not place aerators under the dome, otherwise air bubbles will gradually lower the water level in it. It is also advisable to calculate the volume of water under the dome so that when it is emptied, the water level in the aquarium does not exceed its edges.
Vases or containers can be used in any shape that you like.
Thanks to the author for the original idea of creating an extremely unusual aquarium!
