Budget Carp Fishing Boat

Greetings the inhabitants of our site!
This article will show you how to do it yourself to assemble a boat for fishing from inexpensive parts, so to speak a budget option. Another such boat is called cyprinids. Usually these boats are used to import bait and tackle. In the finished version, such a boat is not cheap, and in order to save money, the author of YouTube channel "Radio-Lab" decided to try to assemble such a boat on his own.

The hull for the future boat will be like this:

It seems that this type of building is called the Pyramid. The hopper of this instance is located in the rear and is part of the housing. The bunker has a side that can move and in this way a dump is realized.

This case is made of ABS plastic. 2mm thick. The sizes are as follows: length - 580mm, width - 290mm, height - 180mm.
On the Internet you can find different cases and this is a matter of taste and tasks. To control the future boat you will need such a pretty 3 channels. The kit consists of a transmitter and a receiver.

The throttle trigger will control the speed of the main engine, and the steering wheel will control the rudder. The opening of the hopper will be realized by pressing this button of the 3rd channel. This equipment is powered by 4 AA batteries. All necessary information on settings and connection is in the instructions.

This one will be responsible for controlling the engine speed and powering the on-board network for collector motors, it has a large current reserve and it supports two banks of 8.4V Li-Po for the 540th motor.

This controller has a built-in BEC 5V 2A for powering the receiver and servos. We will use the motor here.

You will also need a couple.

A larger servo will control the rudder, and a smaller one by dumping the hopper. In these servos, metal gears are installed.

Next, we need a suitable length and diameter with a cardan gear.

This deadwood is made of stainless steel. The length of the deadwood is 10cm. The diameter of the stern shaft is 4mm, and the diameter of the motor shaft is 3.17mm. That's how it all looks.

the author bought several, they are on 3 blades, made of plastic, outer diameter 32mm, under the shaft 4mm, positive direction of rotation.

we’ll use this one, assembled, the height of the steering body itself is 36 mm.

Below is presented.

To assemble the battery, you need 8 Li-ion 18650 batteries in the amount of 8 pieces.

We will collect the battery for 2 banks and 4 cells in each, abbreviated 2S4P.
To charge and balance the battery, you need a CC-CV 8.4V 1A for a 2S battery and under 2S for 10A.

To control the charge level, a lithium-ion battery will be needed for a 2S battery.

Well, that’s like all the necessary spare parts for assembling the future boat. Now you can proceed directly to the assembly.

First you need to roughly arrange the main nodes in the hull of the boat.

Now you need to make a motor mount. An aluminum corner with an edge of 30mm and a thickness of 2mm is perfect for this.

A motor will be installed on the resulting engine mount. Please note that the motor should be bent slightly at an angle.

Next, make a hole for the deadwood and mark where there will be holes in the body for mounting the engine mount.

Having departed from the deadwood by a certain distance, we make a hole for installing the steering wheel.

For additional fixation and rigidity, the author made the base of the steering wheel from the 50th sewer pipe.

Next stage - battery assembly. Since a high-current Li-Po battery is quite expensive, as an option, we will try to assemble a power battery from 8 used Li-ion 18650 batteries.

For convenience, you can use the battery here such holders:

As a result, we got a 2S4P lithium-ion battery, the capacity is about 6400mA.

Now we will assemble the mechanism for opening the hopper with a servo drive. To assemble this mechanism, the author used pieces of aluminum, a bicycle spoke, as well as several other details:

The result is a fairly simple mechanism in which the servo moves the rod from a bicycle spoke.

Next, we put the battery on the side wall.

On the other hand, there is a 5.5x2.1 jack for connecting a charger.

We install LEDs on the front and back walls of the case. White in front and red in back.

When installing LEDs, do not forget about the current-limiting resistor, in this case 0.25 W with a nominal value of 1 kOhm.

It is also necessary to organize the protection of the propeller and rudder against possible accidental impacts. Let's make it from strips of aluminum shape.

Such protection, of course, will not save against algae, but it’s completely imagined against accidental blows to the bottom or stones.
We always coat all bolted joints with waterproof sealant.

Next, we continue to collect the electrical part. Be sure to observe the polarity.

Solder the wires to charge the battery to the connector on the case, always observing the polarity. Also, do not forget to connect control wires to the receiver from the steering servo and regulator.

To prevent water from entering the body through the deadwood and the base of the steering wheel, fill them with Lithol.

It remains to solder the power wires of the LEDs to the regulator’s power connector in parallel and solder the charging wire to the connector on the case.

So, all the wires are in place. For convenient transportation of the boat in the furniture hardware store, such a handle was purchased.

The battery is connected, press the power button.

The LEDs on the front and back are lit, also when you press your button, the battery level is displayed. For more information on the assembly and testing of this model, see in this video:

After all the work done, I got such a homemade carp boat for fishing.

There are still small shoals, the project is still a budget, but it works fine. Try, collect and repeat. Thank you for attention. See you soon!
