Hello everyone, today we will look at how to make a simple and effective epoxy nightlight. The author decided to make a space galaxy, in the dark the nightlight looks very beautiful. Of course, you can add different colors to such a nightlight, because space is not white. The picture itself imitates phosphor powderwhich actively emits light when illuminated. Homemade manufacturing process:
Step one. Making a flat night light
First, we need a silicone mold in which a thin disc made of epoxy can be cast. Pour the resin, and then gently with a syringe pour a luminous powder in the form of a spiral, to simulate a galaxy.
Exactly such a detail you will need to make a spherical night lamp. We leave this whole thing to freeze.
Next, we remove the disc and hang it on the fishing line, we attach a match or a toothpick to the opposite end of the fishing line. We assemble a rectangular formwork made of acrylic, carefully seal all joints with a glue gun. It is important to understand that the epoxy resin is very fluid, it can leak through slots where water can hardly pass.
When the formwork is ready, we install a disk in it, hanging it on a fishing line. Well, then you can pour epoxy into the formwork.
Step Two Cast a galaxy in a ball
To cast a galaxy in a ball, we need a spherical formwork, which consists of two halves. We install the disc inside the formwork and fill the resin through the hole in the upper part. If desired, a little dye can be added to the resin, and if you do not mix it evenly, everything will look more interesting.
By the way, the powders are also different in color, you can conduct experiments by interfering with different colors.
Step Three Turning
The ball will need turning, we need to cut off the defects and pour it and grind it well. Of course, after grinding, the ball will need to be polished so that it becomes transparent again.To polish the ball, you will need sandpaper from 500 to 3000, and then everything is treated with polishing paste and polished as a finish. If such processing is difficult for you, after rough grinding you can cover the ball with varnish from a spray can or a thin layer of resin, it will again become transparent.
Step Four Ball base
We make the base for the ball, it has the shape of a pipe. You can grind such a base from wood or other material on a lathe. A suitable round LED flashlight is installed in the base. Alternatively, you can use an electric candle on batteries, they come in different colors. The base is not attached to the ball in any way, it is simply mounted on top at the desired angle of the galaxy.
Step Five Base for a flat night light
The base for a flat night light is assembled from veneer or similar material. The author installs a battery pack for three finger batteries in the base. There is also a place for a resistor, LED and switch. Fill the whole thing with hot glue and glue the epoxy part to the base.
Now the homemade product is ready, the nightlights look very interesting, and everything is made quite simply. If you show a little imagination, everything can be detailed much better and it will be impossible to take your eyes off the night lamp.
