Already many options for bending devices have been proposed by various authors. And each of them has various advantages and disadvantages.
In this article, the author of the YouTube channel “Workshop Diy” will tell you about his version of such a tool, which implements the ability to bend workpieces with different radii.
Materials
- Old brake disc, wheel bearing
- Steel strip, round timber, pipe
- Bolts, washers
- Solidol.

Manufacturing process.
For the manufacture of the base you will need an old brake disc, and a functioning wheel bearing.
First of all, you need to refine the disk, and clean it from rust. The author pounds the main dirt from the inside of the disk with a hammer.
All surfaces are treated with a cleaning disc.
Finishes stripping with a Velcro disc with sandpaper.
Now the wheel bearing must be installed in the center of the brake disc. In order to make it better welded, the master grinds one outer face on the machine.
To accurately center the bearing, the author uses an ordinary round magnet.
Then the disc turns over and the bearing is welded to it.
The scale gets off, the seam is cleaned.
The result is such a basis fixtures.
Billets are cut from a steel strip for stops and handle elements.
In the main part of the lever, on which the pins will be installed, drills holes for the bolts.
Near one edge of the lever (it will be located in the center of the bearing) two steel rectangles are welded.
Next, bolts are inserted into the holes, and their heads are welded to the strip.
The third and longest bolt is welded on the underside of the lever.
The master will use a steel round log as a handle. He cut off part of it, and welded to the outer edge of the strip.
After stripping, the second part of the structure turned out. Now the rollers need to be put on the bolts, their author made of steel pipe. The length of the rollers is slightly shorter than the length of the bolts.
Now you need to apply solid oil, and put the rollers on the bolts.
To prevent the rollers from jumping off the axles, washers are welded to the edge of the bolts.
The finished structure remains to be welded to the central part of the bearing.
Also, two stops are welded to the brake disc.
Three holes for mounting screws are drilled at the outer edge of the disc, and countersink.
The last bolt with roller is installed through the standard hole in the disk.
That's all, the fixture is ready, it needs to be screwed to the workbench.
So, the first test will be a piece of reinforcement, the author bends it at the smallest radius, getting 90 degrees.
On the second radius, he tries to bend a steel square, and everything comes out perfectly.
On the third ring is already trying to bend a steel strip.
Well, the largest radius is the outer one. For him, you need to fasten the stop to the workbench.
I thank the author for a simple but useful tool for the workshop!
All good mood, good luck, and interesting ideas!
