Docking station - intermediary between PSP and music lover

Parents of the author of Instrictables under the nickname isacco won the Sony PSP game console at the city festival in 2009. Their son turned out to be indifferent to games, but decided to act on the principle of "give - take, beat - run", especially since the prize can also be used as an MP3 player with convenient navigation. This is possible today if you manage to purchase a Memory Stick format memory card, which was then promoted by a powerful advertising campaign, but then it was abandoned. And in order to get high-quality sound, the master set about making an acoustic docking station for a present. Here he is sketching homemade:

Parses old active speakers for a computer:

Marks an MDF sheet of 10 mm thickness:

Attaches a game console to it and circled:

Cuts holes in the future front panel of the dock:

And from the front panel of that of the columns in which the amplifier is located, a rectangle with controls is cut off, and a board is also attached to it:

Shows how the PSP, dynamic heads, and controls will be located on the front of the dock:

Makes up the second sketch of the case:

Cuts body parts from 8 mm plywood:

Of which then glues the body, separating the back wall with foil so that it does not stick:

Makes and glues side panels:

Glues the front panel:

Makes recesses for the frames of dynamic heads and panels with controls so that they do not protrude:

Makes holders for PSP:

He wonders where the jack will be located:

Drills a hole for it in the front panel:

Positions the jack as shown in the photo, and in the left holder makes a notch of such dimensions that its plastic part fits there:

On the opposite side, the holders are fixed with self-tapping screws of such a length that they do not go from front to outside:

As a result, from the front side it turns out like this:

Jack can be glued, fixed strictly vertically, but not now, but after completion of all other operations, and so that the glue does not close the contacts. The master paints the front panel, and at the same time the panel with the controls, so that they are the same color, and not to cover the contacts of the jack with paint, while removing it, like the holders:

He paints the holders, returns the jack to the place, collects everything, electronic parts are interconnected exactly as they were connected in the original:

Screws the back wall with screws, that's why he did not stick it, so that it was removable:

Everything is almost ready, you can listen to how the docking station sounds:

There was a pad covering the dynamic heads, it is also called a "grill". The master draws on its cover from a plastic box its perimeter:

Marks:

Cut with a manual jigsaw (this is left behind the scenes), and then takes a microdrill:

Drills mounting holes, as well as holes for the passage of sound:

It colors the “grill” on the reverse side, while the front one remains glossy:

Cylinders of short length are made of four dowels (after which dowels can be used elsewhere for their intended purpose, if the load is light), so that a gap is obtained between the front panel and the "grill":

After which, through them, installs an overlay on the front panel:

Work on the docking station is completed, you can install the PSP and use:

... ten years have passed since then, the PSP console has managed to gain the status of vintage over the years, and if you still have it, you can repeat this dock today.

But you just can’t connect the speakers? Well, since dock station, it would be possible to provide for PSP charging (power), and loading tracks ... scratch
And to get high-quality sound,
The word "quality" in this context is superfluous. ;)
