Manufacturing process.
So, the author had an old bow saw, which was poorly stretched and looked very ugly. To make a new case, he will need two copper tubes of different diameters.
Two short blanks for the side elements must be cut out of them, and one of the thin tubes, two times longer than the first.
In the center of the short tubes, the master drills a hole with a step drill equal in diameter to a thin tube.
The sharp edges of the hole are cleaned with a file.
The old canvas is too long, and the master shortens it, forming new ears.
Rust is cleaned with a metal brush.
From two bars and a piece of film, it forms a long bath.
The rust cleaner mixes with water, puts a wooden plank on the bottom of the bath, and puts a canvas on it. Then it is poured with a cleaner mixture.
While the canvas becomes rusty, the author makes cuts in the lower parts of the side tubes. It cleans with sandpaper, adjusting the size of the slot to the thickness of the canvas. Also, they need to drill holes for the fixing screws.
So, the blade is acidified, it needs to be cleaned and washed thoroughly under running water. Of course, it is advisable to use rubber gloves.
In the new eye you need to drill and countersink the screw hole.
The author will use kapron twine as a tensioner. On one edge it is fixed with a loop, and on the second - with a knot.
From the hazel plank, he cuts the tension bar, rounds the edges, and soaks it with oil.
This is how the saw assembled will look compact. Assembly takes place in one minute.
But not everything is ready yet, it remains to polish all the surfaces of the tubes on a grinder with a felt disk soaked in GOI paste.
