Hello the inhabitants of our site! I propose for your review another homemade product. This is a secret door lock that can be easily made do it yourself.

How does it all work? There are no key openings on the door, but it does not open. The door is locked outside, but it is not clear how. The trick is that among the heads of screws and bolts on the surface of the door the hexagonal head of the furniture bolt was lost.

We insert a hex key in it, a turn, turn it half a turn, and the door will open immediately. At the other end of the bolt, on the other side of the door, a simple iron latch is mounted.

To build this homemade product we need the following materials and tools.

This is a furniture bolt with an M8 thread; three nuts with the same thread; two washers for these nuts; metal plate 4 mm thick and 5 cm wide.

Instruments: hacksaw for metal; two car keys 14 * 13 and 14 * 17; file; file; drill, drill, chisel and hammer.

Putting it all in the following order.

Step 1. We take a furniture bolt, grind on an emery on one side the thread for its entire length (we make a fling). On the opposite side, we do the same action. The thickness of the bolt between the machined sides should be 5mm. This is all shown in the photo.

Step -2. From the metal plate we cut off a bar measuring 5 * 8 cm, we make markings in the middle of the cut off plate. Having departed from its edge 1 cm, we drill 3-4 holes with a diameter of 5 mm, then with the help of a file we make a slotted hole, as shown in the photo

The dimensions of this hole are 5 * 10 mm.

Step -3. We process the plate on an emery or file so that there are no sharp corners. We drill not far from the door edge through hole with a diameter of 8 mm - for the bolt. For the bolt head, make a larger hole. We insert a bolt into it. On the arc side of the door, we put a washer on the bolt, and tighten the nut until the bolt head is flush with the door surface. Then a flap is put on the flange with its slot, and tightened by two nuts.

Step 4. Having closed the door, on the inside we make markings under the latch in the door frame. We hollow out or drill a hole under the heck. Shown in the photo

We insert a hex wrench into the head of the bolt, rotate it together with the bolt, thereby checking the operability of the lock. So that the heck does not fall down, we put on the side of it a limiter in the form of a self-tapping screw or nail. Such a lock can be put on the front door to the courtyard of your house or in the barn.

That's all, homemade is ready.

In such a door, a hex bolt rushes out of the eye and will not save you from a flat screwdriver of the required width.
it would be better if the same bolt was flat as the neighboring ones. and as the previous speaker suggested,

And so that there is no temptation to twist a shiny bolt, it can be painted with the same paint as the door is painted. Then you don’t immediately understand what’s what and how it’s opened.

My grandfather, too, at the cottage everywhere with bolts under the hexagon closed all the doors by welding a piece of pipe over the bolt. Interestingly, no one has ever opened, steel doors, thieves thought to no purpose ...))

I forgot the keys at home, I broke off a three-sided file, hammered it and then unscrewed it with a carob or flat-nose pliers ..)) And this can be turned with a knife, or with any piece of iron flattened by a stone. And who does not want to spin the shiny screw in the old door?))
